Anybody know how to remove the black piece on the trunk lid by the window?

Is it easy? Going to get a carbon fiber replacement made up.

I went to have mine replaces but it is on national backorder.

The service manger said it was a super pain to get off. Said they have to let it soak in solvent for some time.

Why? i like that black piece. It makes the back window look more sloped.

Yes I did hear te cracking was common. Mine was that way when I bought it. I never noticed but the service manager did and he replaced it... It took several hours of them soaking it to get it off. Not an easy nor quick process.

Is there a warranty or recall for this problem?

If someone could post the technical service bulletin or it's number that would be great

Mine cracked and it looks bad

    Thank you

I don't think there is a TSB. They will replace it under warranty, but VWoA has not given me any out of warranty goodwill on this under engineered piece.

I too am out of warranty and complained about it to VW. I just got an email last night stating that I will have it replaced and they will pick up 100% of the cost. Keep trying.
