Why do you need that much ground clearance if it's FWD. If he's rock climbing then buy a jeep. Or perhaps an Audi All-Road.

If OP is taking his car off-road on logging roads for fishing, camping and such...why not? This place gets too obsessed with being low and slow.

Not at all. Just this makes no practical sense in any way. It's like saying I want to buy a Jetta TDI to haul my horse trailers because it's a diesel... Why not buy a vehicle for the practical application?

I dont buy a jeep because I have access to one, and they get like 15mpg, and most climbing for me is at least 2hrs of highway driving, at least, away. And I dont buy a Audi all-raod because my pockets arent that deep. It I had more funds I would be doing this to a R32.

Also Im doing it because its different. I followed for a while and had a lowered car, but now I have a unique car that is more usable for me.

No where I have been climbing needs 4wd besides ice climbing in the winter (because of snow/ice), most places are just rutted out gravel which a stock height fwd car will make it through, but will scrape like crazy.

And you seem to believe that anything that isn't tarmac is the side of a mountain. Dirt roads, even mostly flat ones, you'll need more suspension travel and clearance. He isn't mud bogging. He isn't driving through lake beds and 20' snow drifts. It's light duty off-road use.

I thoughts on wheel color? They will be 15x8 with a +6mm offset. Fender flares will cover accordingly.

Heres the wheels Im thinking about.

Seems more practical than a truck to me. Better MPG's, OP already has this car and doesn't have to buy another one, and you get way better handling out of the rabbit.

No updates. The money tree isnt growing well, along with lots of research on this wheel and tire thing.

Looks like I will have to get 15x7 wheels due to the fact that if I got the 15x8 wheels I would have to get 29 or 30 inch tires (wont fit) I am still debating cutting the fender out for bigger tires, along with the fender flares, or just fender flares and stick to under 28" dia. I also cant find a offroad looking tire wider than 225 and stay under the dia. requirment.

Another note on the wheels, I am trying to find a place in the area to redrill the wheels rather than using adaptors, but that is proving to be difficult. The wheels are +12 offset and therefore with an adaptor I would be pushing it, having the wheels poke out to much.

These wheels are the plan as long as I can find someone to redrill them, and at a reasonable price. I am also looking into other stock wheels to powder coat white. None have caught my eye. Well that are as reasonalbly priced as these.

I also keep getting a CEL saying bank 1 is to lean. Do I need to get a tune to fix this? I have the p-flow intake and glasspack exhaust.

    Thanks

awesome! I was going to suggest Diamond wheels which are similar to the ones you ordered but require a bigger tire (you cannot run it with low profiles or they bend easy). Can't wait to see them on with mudflaps!

You should also pick up some OEM GTI sideskirts

Poke just means you can run fender flares!

If I could find some D-hole style wheels in 17's with a decent offset, I'd be all over them.

Item title days R32, but description says Toureg?

I want to like this but I just can't decide. I am withholding judgement until the new wheels/tires. I think that will make or break the whole package.
