Dropped my on one off to have the fork serviced.

Also replaced the brake cable on my zaskar (in the process trying out my new work stand)

Finally cleaned about 55 miles of late winter grime off the Schwinn... It was nasty! Took about an hour to clean.

I have got it ready for racing.

    New Helmet,

the bike all ready for the track.

and new cranks to replace the really heavy ones that came with it. I think I took off 2lbs.

No effort made to build it light, yet somehow it weighs 16.2 pounds as pictured.

Found a Schwinn sprint in the trash Friday night, had no wheels, but did have front and rear derailleur, nasty ass rusted chain, seat post and saddle, handlebars, gear levers, fork, and brakes, stripped all the parts off it, and getting it ready for media blast and powder coat. Going to build it up as my bike to train in the park. Never ridden steel before, but it's a cool lugged steel frame, super excited for this build...

Well I started to move some to the new house. Also I put a saddle on the cross bike after I dropped them off. Now if we could finish the move so I could actually ride that would be nice.

    I guess I follow rule #25
    RULE 25:
The bikes on top of your car should be worth more than the car. Or at least be relatively more expensive. Basically, if you’re putting your Huffy on your Rolls, you’re in trouble, mister.

Swapped out the crabon brake pads for the regular ones with hopes of actually riding some training miles this week

Swapped the wheels/tires out on my cross bike, swapped some parts on the singlespeed/fixed to get it ready to sell, and started building a dedicated steel touring bike. Can't wait to put some serious miles on these things!!!

Then removed all of these from my rear tire only:

Yeah, that's the prevailing thought around here as well. It may have to wait until we move in a few months though. It's either going to get Red/Black or I'm going to completely sellout to PoserWorld and slap Di2 on it!

Fitted a Garmin 500 over the weekend, a B'day present from my wife. She got the HR and Cadence sensors too but I haven't used them yet. I'm loving the 500 so far, I had heard only good things about it and I think it really helps keep my ADHD style mind happy while I'm out riding on my own.

I do have wayyy too many options on the screen though, I think I average 7 metrics per screen so they're all tiny..

Put a fork with too much travel on the Pisgah... and in the process, gave it a mullet.

Snapped my fingers and turned this -

    Into this -

This all started with a proper fitting that revealed that the fuji was too big for me (hence the wonky position of the shifters on the bars and the shorty stem in the first pic.) And, of course, these things snowball - theres 5 more packages of parts arriving this week. Love the carbon frame, stiffer under power but absorbs rough road surfaces way better than the fuji. Really happy for $300.

I picked up a couple of trashed mountain bikes from my boss this 2 nights ago, and finally got them unloaded last night. Stripped one down last night to just the frame (Its an old Shimano) and started sanding. About half the frame is down to bare metal now, hopefully Ill get the rest of the paint off tonight.

This is my first build since last summer when I bult my dream BMX bike from when I was little, so Im pretty stoked. Ill post some pics when Im done with the sanding, but cleaning the garage comes first tonight

Got it to work again. Took it out on 12/31/10 and the roads were just wet enough that they resulted in a spray, but, not wet enough that the spray ran off the bikes. It was basically like a paste of dirt and sand

Sat like this until some time in February and I got it out this week. When I first tried to free everything up, the rear deraileur would just swing then lock the chain-it had no movement to it at all.

I then pressure washed it and it looked like I washed off an off road truck in the wash bay it was so grimey. Rides SO much better with all the dirt off and the chain lubed up

Switched the 29er back to SS for the summer. Excited to get back out on it without snow all over the place.

Bought a new pair of glasses while in Italy, for the total price of about $20 brand new. I only wanted them for the yellow and clear lenses, but actually they're not bad overall at all. The brand is B-Twin, which is the in-house cycling part of the Decathlon stores (think Euro version of Sports Authority etc). They had tons of dirt cheap bibs, rain jackets and lots of Campy 10 speed bikes, but the glasses were the main thing that caught my in-for-a-bargain eye

I swapped the old WTB Prowler SL 29 tires for some Ignitor 2.1s on the Kona 29er. In the process, I also removed a link form the chain (the Kona is a SS with sliding dropouts) and shortened up the wheelbase quite nicely. The new Ignitors also cut about 200g off my rotating weight.

Overall, the changes were transformative. I don't know if the 1" shorter chain stay/wheelbase or the Ignitors made the difference, but either way I'm very happy.

I took the Kona out to Fox Creek and had a unplanned riding buddy for the entire 1.5 hour ride. He kept cutting the switch-backs so I couldn't always keep up, but I did pass him on the downhills.

200 mile tune on the new Ridley build. Shifting was wonky and the chainrings bolts needed snugged down...

Isn't that fun? I made it many years without carrying a chain breaker before that happened to me. Of course when it did happen a few summers ago I was 8 miles from my car.
