We bought an b5.5 and the passenger seat is not heating. What and where to check? Or is it like a heating core or something under the seat?

Fuse (listed on fuse panel cover).
      Switch failure or wirin loose.
Plug under seat dislodged or burnt.
Actual heating element in seat burnt or broken due to someones knee in the seat.

Awesome, thanks for the check list. I'll go and start poking around.

the knees in the seat .......never thought about that as a diagnoses for faulty heated

seats.......A friend of mines has a 2002 A8L and his passenger side front and rear

heated seats dont work...but after reading this, he does have two children 4 and 5.....
MK2 Jetta/Golf with a 2.Slo swap and a diesel 5th sounds good for MPG's.....Inflating gas prices make my beloved VR6 less desirable for DD....

there was a Recall on this... i had the same issue, mine turned out to be the Switch Only... Got one of ebay and swaped it and it worked fine

I dont remember if i did this but i think i Swaped the Switch from Driver side to Passenger side to see if it worked...

yea call your dealer with your Vin number... it was Recall M2 (Driver Side) Which involved some Zip Ties and Wiring and M3 (Pass Side) which involved the Heat Switch (Tumbler by which you control the 5 level of heat) to be replace with a Superseeded Part Number, mine was done in DEC 2005

I couldn't find a fuse for the seats, so no idea there. I'm gonna try flipping the switches to see if the one is bad.
