No, he didn't.
Neither did Bill Gates, but at least Bill Gates admits it.
Does your boss own a one-man business that exists in a vacuum? Did he spring, like Athena, fully-formed from the head of Zeus, or did he have parents who raised him right, or maybe a teacher somewhere who noticed his potential and gave him a push in the right direction?
And if you're his employee (which is a horrible word in and of itself) doesn't your contribution count for something a bit more than a paycheck, or do you value yourself so little?

This is interesting.

When debate over public unions flared up in Wisconsin last year, educators claimed Gov. Scott Walker's austere reforms would require thousands of teachers to be laid off.
They were wrong.
With small changes in pension and healthcare contributions while allowing school districts to buy health insurance plans on the open market, Walker's reforms have resulted in what could be considered a statewide teacher-retention program. School districts such as Wauwatosa, hometown of Governor Walker and the Weekly Standard's Fox News star Stephen Hayes, faced a $6.5 million deficit and planned to lay off dozens of teachers. But Walker's reforms allowed all those teachers to remain employed.
At other large school districts such as LaCrosse, Racine, Wausau, and Beloit, if there were any layoffs at all, they were limited to two or fewer. And in addition to retaining teachers, the reforms have instituted merit-based pay systems that allow excellent teachers to be rewarded.
However, not all school districts adopted Walker's reforms so readily. Milwaukee's school district, which is immediately east of Wauwatosa, rammed through a union contact in December, just in time to avoid being subject to the reforms.
Now it appears the Milwaukee district is reconsidering its hasty action.
After the City of Milwaukee announced last week that Milwaukee Public Schools would have to contribute almost 10 million additional dollars to the city's pension plan (which covers non-teaching employees, such as engineers and educational assistants), the Milwaukee teachers union made the unusual move to write a joint letter with the non-union school board and administration, requesting an additional 30 days to negotiate compensation and benefits.
This request comes on the heels of a 90-day window between November and February to adjust teacher contracts. As the legislation signed by Walker, known as Act 10 and Act 65, makes it impossible to alter existing agreements without nullifying them, a decision to extend this window will have to be made very soon, as the Wisconsin legislature's general session completes its work today.
However, no matter how badly reforms are necessary, other union leaders are not happy with the Milwaukee teachers union for essentially admitting that Gov. Walker was right, especially before the recall election.

this just in...if you're broke or going to be broke, if you spend less money, you probably won't be broke.
so painful when reality butts in, eh?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I was on hiatus for a bit. My wife got another promotion and I have been working extra OT. We are planning on buying a house soon, as we have decided the house we are in is not worth the asking price.
In other news, the recall election looks it will definitely happen on June 5. The people have spoken loud and clear.

I'm actually glad you didn't leave. Watch out though, too much of that hard work and responsibility is going to change your views on entitlement.
The people will speak on June 5th.
So what of the contrast between reality (Walker's reforms saving jobs) and the rhetoric (zomg he's trying to destroy Wisconsin!!!)?
#1694
I knew it wouldn't take long for you to show up.
My views on entitlement? Wow, you really are full of your self. I came from a humble background and have clawed for very inch I have ever gotten. Because I have a different outlook than you, I must be up to no good.
I am confident that the people make the best decision and that is a change come June.
As far as the rhetoric you speak of, I still am not convinced he is saving enough jobs to mask the problems he has created.

bad news. creating jobs and helping the economy poll as the most important issue for about 75% of americans right now.
also, could you be more specific in regards to "problems he has created." or this just something that people say to make it look like he has dramatically changed things for the worse.
i already know what the attack ads will be like (keep in mind i do this stuff both for fun and for a living). I'm just curious what you think the "problems" really are.

Much of his ant-worker agenda was just struck down by federal court.
Yay, constitution!

Actually, I thought of you when I read it. An irrational lunatic who can't see the forest for the trees.
Speaking of NJ, we have a governor who implemented very similar changes upon taking office. He was reviled by the NJEA and the AFSCME.
The reforms worked. He now has 56% approval in this state. That's serious for a Republican governor in a very blue state. Taxes have stabilized, budgets are working, and teachers aren't being RIF'd every year like under the previous governor.
The same things have happened in Wisconsin.
You're on the wrong side of this issue.

Republicans that ran in the primaries as democrats supposedly to disillusion uninformed voters.
You haven't been following along have you?
Because I don't share your viewpoint I am an irrational lunatic? You are delusional.
Have a ****ing cookie.
Blah blah blah, I am right and you are wrong. Over and over again. Omniscient? Hardly.

That was not their intention with running. They wanted to make sure their was a primary and that all of the recall elections fall on the same day instead of on separate days.
Not sure what good Barret would do with this state if what he is doing in Milwaukee does not seem to be working.

that is what is happening here in Michigan. Every year for the last 8 or so, teachers have gotten lay-off notices at the end of every school year, this year, the practice pretty much dried up...turns out if finish your budget 6 months early, schools know how to plan their years and don't have to warn every teacher they might be fired. Under our previous democrat leadership we had government shut downs, tax hikes, middle of the night budget deals in late september, etc. you might not like all the decisions the republicans are making here, but i will say they are knocking the budget out by May 31 every year. that is pretty impressive.
