Castillo update from today's loss to the Nationals per Metsblog.com:

Luis Castillo struggled today, missing a groundball, striking out, and grounding into a double play.

Castillo's $6M salary is almost 25% of the loan the Mets recently took out!

Personally, I always felt that Beltran was always worth his contract and he gets a bad rap from his style of play (and for looking at Wainwright's curveball in 2006). I think he's set for a big bounceback year and hopefully playing right isn't too much of an adventure (I remember Mike Cameron, one of the best defensive CFs had some difficulties when he moved to right on the Mets)

Daniel Murphy had a Sportscenter Top 10 play (while playing 3B)

I agree. I think he's going to have a good year. He just has to stay healthy. If the Mets crash and burn early and Beltran has a great year I wouldn't be suprised if they try to move him. Just my opinion.

I think we have a better chance of seeing George Costanza become the next Director of Mets Scouting before we see this franchise return to its former glory. (Sorry, I'm watching an episode of Seinfeld right now)

I can only hope Irving Picard prevails in his lawsuit. I generally loathe trial attorneys but I can find a place in my heart for Picard as our interests are aligned, albeit indirectly, in this one.

We follow the Mets to watch them win. They will not win with the Wilpons. It's time for new blood and less distraction. Get the Wilpons as far away from this team as possible.

The stellar Mets PR Machine led by Jay Horowitz will continue to dangle the hope of Santana returning in an effort to keep people interested. My guess is they shut him down come June. By then the Mets should be out of contention anyway.

His primary competition would be Daniel Murphy

Chin Lung Hu has impressed with his defensive and versatility and will probably make the team as a bench player (and possibly sell jerseys to Chinese fans)

Of course, this is assuming Castillo would be cut - which I thought would have happened but hasn't.

And Perez is getting every last chance to salvage some kind of role with the team.

I'm happy the Mets are simply cutting their losses and doing what's best for the team, instead of holding on to players just because of their contracts.
