Srsly. Perhaps not as performance orientated as the past models, but it was my favourite when it came out. In effect, it really was a poor man's Audi at the time. Too bad some owners of the car gave it such a bad name.
Otherwise, I'd take my brother's late model Corrado.

I owned all kinds of VWs- 15 or so- then I bought my first VR6 Corrado and have only owned VR6 Corrados since! I think the Corrado was VWs peak.
I am now searching for a Black on Black VR6 that will be the last VW I buy and the Corrado I keep forever!
Just for fun, the stock VR6 Corrado beats the stock R32 around the 'Ring!

Any V12 Lambo is effectively not a VAG product, at least not to me.
Anyway, this: (not this particular one)
Why doesn't VW market a compact golf-based ute in the US?

MKII GTI 16v, big bumpers ('91-92?)
Close second is my daily-beatup-beater... the MKIV GTI 1.8t. I agree with the above, a hugely hated on VW, that is probably one of the most ground-breaking cars for that segment ever. Even today, a stock 1.8t GTI could give a new Civic SI heck...

Limiting this to cars I have actually owned;
I don't have a single favorite, there's just too many that I love or have loved. Still, the ones I loved the best were:
My two Karman Ghia coupes (metallic gray '56 & Mercedes racing silver '59), the first and second cars I bought.
My '91 Pearlescent Audi V8 Quattro 5 speed manual - one of 77 imported with the manual transmission. A Porsche 928 with 4 doors!
My '87 VW Quantum Syncro, a unique wagon with VW badging and an Audi 4000 quattro drive train and suspension.
My BMP '04 VW R32. I miss it, and am searching for another. A better Audi TT 3.2Q than the real thing.
My '11 Toffee Brown Metallic Touareg 3.0 TDI with Sand beige interior. Mechanically it uses the Audi Quattro AWD system, and is an absolutely fantastic Grand Touring vehicle, even though it is nominally a sport ute. Every day, I'm amazed anew at what a fine vehicle this is!
I don't count either of my previous Porsches, neither was a VAG product, though the Cayman came close to bing one. I think the 991 may qualify, butobviously, that's moot.
And if I could have any car posted in here, I'd go with the silver KG with the 993 mechanicals, hands down! One of the most beautiful coupes ever penned, and finally with enough power!

Can't you just go back to the MK3 forum where you belong? No one cares about your mid 90s econobox with 50k miles
As far as my favorite... you can't go wrong with the original Rabbit, as it saved VW in the late 70s.
You also have to include whatever originally introduced the 1.8T... as much as I hate the "1.8t nevar lose" bull****, it really started a cult following, even more-so then the VR6.
As far as air-cooled goes, I love Karman Ghias.
2.0T... it's back!

i had one of those LE9C Cashmere White GTI's^^^ though mine was an '84.what a wonderful car it was! it did everything just perfectly--it handled, cornered, rode very well.it stopped just ok,lol.great engine, great gearbox. it was such a simple car,one could fix just about anything on it with simple hand tools, unlike today's technology-laden Golfs.![]()

FIRST (and probably only) one to post this up:
My allroad (forgive me, I was in my Europlate fad stage). I no longer have it but it had it all. Power, fantastic timeless looks, AWD and went anywhere I needed her to go. Got rid of it because I finally had enough of its issues (more than just suspension). SO much comfortable room inside and immensely useable. If I couldve picked up a couple of mpg and made a little more money to support its parts eating ways, I would still have it. I see them on the road and the lust kicks back in.
A MKII Golf Country is a close second. I always kick around the idea of making something like that someday.
