What have you wine drinkers found to be the best one? I'm considering the Oster, Emerson, Waring, and Ozeri brands. TIA

How many bottles are you opening that you need an automatic one? Those rabbit-head shaped openers take all of about 5 seconds.

Call me old fashioned but I prefer the standard cork screw. I work for a catering company and often times, when bartending, I have to open large quantities of wine and have never considered purchasing an electric opener.

I also just did a quick Google search using the phrase electric corkscrew and the shopping results showed that the cheapest one was $30. And one was also $100.

    This is all I need:

I agree with Ryan, I'll stick with the wine key.

In my eyes, it is the best tool for the job. I got mine from work for free which is nice as well.

I have one of these and I absolutely hate it. You can't open a beer bottle with it. Like Alton Brown says... it's not a multi-tasking tool.

I have one of those but since my stroke it is getting more difficult to use. A friend who likes gadgets has an electric one which looked like it would work better for me.

Ah. Makes sense. My dad had a stroke and if he drank wine we would have one of these. Good luck in your quest.

Have you thought about talking to someone at BevMo? Maybe you can demo them in the store or something.

I used to work in Banquets at a hotel, opening 120 bottles of wine takes awhile with the hotel room opener lol but it was still a fun job, we finally got a table opener like this one....

I finally decided on the Ozeri Nouveaux II model from Amazon. Since some friends went electric, I had "to keep up with the Joneses" so to speak. lol It works flawlessly.

I second the wine key. cheap and reliable and fast. <---- 3 words rarely put together.

I got an electric one as a gift once, still have never taken it out of the box. Maybe I should sell it to the OP?

You had to keep up with the Jonses by buying a $25 useless gadget?

I was also thinking about purchasing one for my husband (the man just loooooves his wine collection). Is there really that much of a difference between the pricey brands and the cheaper ones?!

For our wedding, someone got us something like this:

I think what we have goes for $50+, and it works really well. Easy, fast.

My parents have the oster electric opener. My mom has really bad arthritis in her hands and it makes opening a bottle tons easier for her. I've used it a few times and it's pretty cool.
