all of these were daily drivers -
84 gti was sold with 147k on it. the CIS was acting crazy but i was still driving it ~40/day.
96 jetta 2.0 was sold with 190k on it. the transmission was totally shot when i got rid of it. i drove this thing 2800 miles (nevada to new york) in 3 days without any issues. it was (nearly) indestructable. damn o2o's!
93 cabriolet had 215k on it when the clutch went & i decided to sell. i drove it 60+ miles/day.
my current daily is an 89 jetta 8v. odometer stopped at 181k. i ran a carfax and that showed the odometer stopped about 2 years ago. i'm guessing its got around 200k on it now. last weekend i drove it to georgia and back (1700 miles round trip) and it ran flawlessly. i drive it over 60 miles/day just to work & back.
i love my volkswagens
161k on my 1.8t golf, head rebuilt at 120k though. Still on the stock clutch.
My 84 Jetta had 350k on it when I sold it. It received it's first and only clutch replacement at around 330k and was on the original motor and transmission. That car will live forever.
I had a 98passat 1.8t had 305k it was totalled in 09 but running strong till that day! I now have an a4 with 171k on the motor before the full tt 225Q swap
