i always have my interior light to go on when i leave a door open, or open my door when the car is off, etc. i left it like that last night, and all my doors were closed properly, i guess the light stayed on. i went to it a few mins ago and my door bell chime was going off even after i closed all doors, my light stayed on even all the doors were closed. then the light finally shut off after i opened and closed the door, but the door chime still kept going, is probably going right now as i type..but its not at its full volume, its almost like its muffled, and the sound 'cracks' a little. but it wont stop even after i start the car. this happens when i just put the key in, it goes even when i dont have it in the 'start' position....any thoughts on what happened?? im probably gonna need a new battery anyway lol but why is the door chime still going??

Something similar happened to my car when it was my dads. He said the little cover that goes over the switch in the door jam broke thats supposed to make the light turn off. And he said the door chime wouldnt shut up. So he took the chime out but now when you open the drivers side door the light wont turn on, but it will if you open the passenger side door. Id like to know why it does that also.

Sounds like the door switch is sticking/on it's way out.

Edit...after re-reading that the chime stays on even once the light's out, not sure man.

door switch is in the door jamb. ( on the lower part for the B pillar )
it's under a little rubber boot near the white sticker with your car's build date on it..
you don't need a Bentley to find this.

You can try unplugging the door jam switch, and that will eliminate that as a problem. I removed my door chime a couple years ago when I was trying to find a loose connection to the stereo. To this day its still sitting in the drivers side door...

      go to the junkyard
pay the man behind the window $2
      Pocket several of those switches
      Replace your switch
You even get spares outta the deal

You don't have to thank me

Had the same problem. Replace all the door jamb switches and you'll be fine!

the door switch is telling the door chime that the door is open.
solution, replace the door switch. problem solved.
it's either the switch, or the wiring from the switch to the fusebox which is pretty easy to access.
Alfredo, how did you get to 2000+ posts and not come across this info before?
