The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is actually much more than just a two day weekend of car shows and races. It's a 10 day motorsports festival that is unlike any other vintage car event in the world. This year Porsche will be marque of the year and the Allegheny Region of the Porsche Club of America has lots in store. This is THE Porsche gathering of 2011. Spotlight this year will be on The Cars of Caroll Shelby. As usuall, Three Rivers Volkswagen Club is handling the VW display and we are always looking for more cars. So bring your driver or your show VW out for a weekend of fun at the races. Best of show trophies awarded for both air and water cooled VWs.
Since 1983, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix has raised over $2 million dollars for charity. The event is free to the public to attend. All proceeds from the races, car shows, merchandise sales, and donations are all to the benefit of the Allegheny Calley School and the Autism Society of Pittsburgh. Unlike like many vintage races which are held on closed tracks, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is held on city streets in the beautiful Schenley Park. Through out the Schenley Park Golf Course you will find the International Car Show. Vehciles from every corner of the globe are represented over the course of the 10 day festival.
If you have never attended the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, I highly suggest adding it to your calendar. You won't be disappointed.
