I'm not upset with Rick's outing last night. We are playing the Yankees of course.
The two HBPs were uncalled for and a couple of untimely walks, but otherwise he stuff was pretty good and for a 22 year old kid he did a good job.
My beef was with the offense. Too many first swing ground balls into BPs, Avila and Betemit both swung and missed everything and not enough production from a couple of other players.
One run for your team WILL NOT win a playoff game. The score will look mighty lopsided in the end, but that's because the bullpen couldn't put a wrap on the eighth inning.
Thursday will be interesting. With as good as Fister has been since we acquired him from Seattle, I'm hoping he can continue to shutdown the heart of the Yankee's lineup (Cano and Teixeira especially).
you're right on....porcello pitched great you just cant have your offense score one frikin run....Avila is in some kind of funk right now anything we get from him on thursday will be a total bonus....and itwould also be nice if austin jackson would wake the hell up
Jackson- like you said- definitely needs to make an imprint on Thursday as well as VMart. Sure he went yard yesterday, but up to that point he's been cold all series.
In the big picture, everything relies on Fister tomorrow. If he pitches lights out, then we have an excellent chances at taking the series. If he gives up 4-5 runs, I fear the Tigers run is over.
