No OEM, no care
That resistor setup is the right way to go though

Others might not feel the same way! Just offering up something for people who aren't as savvy with a soldering iron and electronics.
The write up is great, and I'm not trying to take away from that. Excellent work with the detail. So many people don't take the time to dig into the details.

Hi, i know there are different variations of these STOCK LED's. Some part numbers end with B as your does and some end with C. I have a 2012 CC, with the Hi-line CECM. DO you know what part number will work for me and NOT cause the bulb out errors i keep getting. Your help is truly appreciated...i have been battling this for weeks, and so car nothing has worked, even turning off the cold diagnostic for the license plate light via VagCom. Thanks much!!

As stated by Phatz314 - the different letters are just part number revisions. As for these working in your CC I'm not 100% sure. I would say you might need resistors like the pre 2012 Golf models do in order for these to work. I would contact Dana at Ross-Tech with a scan of your CECM to see if she can maybe help?

I got the revision C and installed them on my '08 Passat and have no errors...and they work fine. Anyone care to throw out a reason? Different from a GTI I know...

I might be missing something here, but why are two load resistors adapters necessary?
Isn't the computer looking at the draw coming from both bulbs?
If you need two 50 ohm resistors, one 25 ohm resistor should work just as well.
Or, am I missing something.

Should work with one...when I got resistors for regular T10 LEDs I tried with resistor on one side only and it worked without bulb out error.

ordered ZIZA lights from ECS tuning for my 2012 GTI and they throw a bulb out code when applied to the city lights. I know the bulbs are good because they didnt do so on my 2009 Tiguan. Called ECS and they said I could run a 10 ohm resistor in series with the bulb and it should work. First, does that sound legit? and second, how do I do that? He also mentioned Radio Shack. Would they have it??? The resistor? I see what you guys did with the license plate bulbs, but I am not prepared to spend that kind of money on all those parts, or time, for now. I am almost willing to just deal with the bulb out light and warnings![]()

does anyone make a an LED bulb that goes around all of this nonsense? I see a bunch of links, but I have used ECS, I have used ledwholesale, I have used DEautokey, and every bulb is throwing a code. I just want plug and play because I dont have vagcom and I am not as technical as most of you guys...

Okay. What the issue with "bulb is out" ever resolved via the VCDS way?
Is it worth to spend the money (43 GBP per EACH LED at local stealership!) in order to try this mod?
My complete autoscan was posted here: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...1#post79834488

In case anyone else is interested in upgrading their car's license plate lights to the OEM units, I have a pair of OEM 1K8943021C license plate lights, just listed them on ebay.co.uk. Although it says shipping to UK only, I'll ship worldwide, just ask me for the shipping costs. Might be cheaper than all you think. Happy bidding!
Oh, and these OEM LEDs seem not to give the 'bulb is out' message on MkV's once the cold diagnosis is turned off.
