    My old 1.6TD Caddy at 142 hp and 278NM
    Stock 1.6 N/A bottom and head, oilpump reduction valve mod, AAZ camshaft, 11mm plunger, stock T3 turbo (boost 30 PSI) homebrew 2.5" exhaust and decent intercooler.

    yea i wanted something a little more interesting than the plastic box, so i made up this. drilled and tapped the manifold and this plate attaches. i know theres no performance gains or anything. thats not what i was going for. just a fun new look.

    Here is my 1.6NA with a k26. It's about to. Be replaced by an AAZ since its got some serious piston slap, I'll probably rebuild.

    mind telling me what u platted your parts with? looks gold, but i always assumed gold platting would be too expensive to be feasible, but i am often times miss led
    zinc, or polished copper maybe?

    do u have to keep it polished or is there a clear coat over it? doesnt copper tarnish quick to a green?

    so i see the jegs one, but is there another vw that people are getting the closed system radiators from? having the bottle gone really seams to clean up the bay.

    nolan: early mk1s came with a radiator with built in expansion tank, not needing an external

    should be able to find elsewhere for cheaper, sure someone will chime in.

    often times for sale on these fs forums, i have picked up a few on here in the past

    Only problem with the ones with the integrated filler is that they have less cooling surface area, but if that's not a concern then it might not be an issue.

    Haven't put the timing belt cover back on yet... along with a lot of other things I need to do haha

    My bay is stock 1.6D Hydro motor goodness, with lots of soot and grime. Oh and a timing belt cover

    I drove with no timing cover for years. thousands of miles. only problem I ever had was dropping a washer in there.

    Back to the top for the mk1 thread with the most awesome.

    IMO

    Personally the most interesting/exciting bit of the idi diesels is the ip. I would love to see more of the detailed ve pumps. The copper plating was uber cool. Anyone else with a plated polished and powder coated pumps?
