Have you guys seen the power that guys are making on the newer billet wheel precision units?

I've seen dynos of 700+ on the 6262 (62mm), and solid solid numbers on the smaller versions of the same turbo. They're reasonably priced too. You'd probably end up spending about the same on a similarly sized garretts unit, though that site is scary cheap!

I second the Precision units. If the one I have ever goes I will be making the switch.

    Comments/opinions anybody?
Good choice with the Kinetic manifold. With it you will not need to bash in your firewall as the manifold makes it sit more toward the top at a good angle. If you are going to run an open dump tube go to Lowes or home depot. They sell Stainless Steel shower rods that are prebent to a perfect angle and for like 20 bucks. You will not find a cheaper place for a dump tube. IMO GT30 a bit large. Ask around to different vendors Garret and Precision and tell them your goals and where you want your power and they can set you up with a good unit.

    Thanks for the opinions guys.

Before this project all started I did want a Precision unit as I know they totally kick ass.
The only reason I was gonna go to a gt30 was it was the smallest turbo on that site without an internal wastegate.

Ideally I'd want the equivalent of a gt28, but which precision unit is that?

    I know the 6262 is ~35r size.

My problem is that i dont' know the size of the 28r wheel. Turboz aint my MOST knowledgable point.

    Alrighty then guys,

    Small update here again.

Got my slim fans in , I think they look TONS better than the oem setup. Mine was all rusted and too bulky.

And refitted my Air/Water Radiator so it looks like this.

I think it looks pretty damn good.

Yes. Definitley looks pretty damn good. How did you mount the fans? And how was it wiring them? Easy/difficult?

I like the way it looks and looks to be more spacious.

They're mounted with standard radiator ties, the same thing you'd mount an oil or trans cooler with.
I like the space too , but I needed the space, the OEM setup hits the a/c lines and some other things when you move back the radiator and condenser back an inch or two.

As for wiring, I haven't got at it yet, I want to use the stock 3 wires clip that clips on to the OEM fan assembly but I'm not sure how I'm going to attack that issue.

Could somebody possibly help me out with that?

    Here,
    Check this out.
It might not be your exact harness but it should give you a good concept on what to do.

You're awesome. Thanks man. I'm gonna hook em up tomorrow. Will have pics as always.
Might work on plumbing the water lines around the car as well.

Things might start to get slow on this build, I'm running out of funds at the moment.

Those slim fans are nice. I've got a small leak in my current rad... maybe it's time to find a new radiator and grab some slim fans.

Don't discourage. Stay productive man. Your doin work When funds are low, do what I do.

Yeah, I've been collecting all of this stuff for quite awhile and I thought I had everything to button it up and I kept on forgetting details and what now, now I gotta send this kit back, which I have to pay to ship myself and the restocking fee, and do my best with the money thats left with from that to buy another manifold and turbo. I'm confident my results will be nice in the end though.

    Not much again,

But today I got my 02A tranny and other related swap components delivered. Holy **** that box was heavy.
Process is going slow, I want to get this thing running before SOWO, if I don't I wont be able to go.
ECS is also pissing me off by not processing my order yet, I NEED that rear motor mount.

I got something done today, I modified the brackets that hold the plug wire organizer thing to work with my mk4 valve cover.

Tomorrow I will be installing my walbro inline fuel bump, trying to route my water lines, maybe some other small stuff, still trying to get in contact with the company I bought this kit off of, so I can get my money back and get to real progress.

It will be on the front of the case. 3 letters. Reason i ask is that the ratios in the 4cyl boxes usually aren't the best. Depending which one you get, it can go a few different ways. Lots of improvement to be had with some vr parts in there.

Where'd you get the manifold? I've got one of the black painted dealies with the plastic PCV dampeners.

I'd rather have that cover.... or I'd rather weld in a bung for a stainless line for the PCV (which is probably cheaper, still want to know where you got yours lol)

edit: I'm also interested in what 02A you got... I thought about doing this swap one day in the future but I need some motivation

NGP supplied all of it, those guys are awesome.

So I'm not exactly sure on the specifics, I think the cover is from a newer mk4 style 2.0,

So just thought I'd throw up some pics of the 02a swap. It will definitely be cleaned and painted before being put in.

Still not exactly sure what code 02a it is, there maybe grime covering it up or something.
If somebody could do me the service of opening the trans pic on paint or PS and showing me where on the trans I could find the code that'd be much appreciated, I can't find anything on google or on here.

Ok guys looks like I have a CES code 02a,

    1st, 3.778 | 2nd, 2.118 | 3rd, 1.429 | 4th, 1.029 | 5th, 0.837 | R&P - 3.684

I got to cleaning it today and I got a lot of the grime off, but I'm probably gonna end up using a pressure washer to get it perfect for paint.

Hey rootbeer what's the word on having a CES code? Good/Bad ?

Yea, that looks right. That's good, that's one of the better ones to have. Short 3rd is good. Shorter 4th is good in terms of 4cyl boxes.

Only weird thing is that with a 4cyl box, you've got a short 1st and 2nd. If you ever consider tearing that box apart, i'd suggest a long vr 1st and 2nd( 3.3, 1.944), and the even shorter vr 4th gear 1.034.

    Yea, that's all from memory

    Also,
Looking to get this from autotech:

    http://www.autotech.com/product/clut....html?fromcat=

It's a hefty price, but necessary I guess. Also I guess I'm not returning the kit.
I'll be using the turbo and the feed lines. As to the rest of the kit, If anybody wants to make an offer I will consider it. The pipes are pre-bent for an mk3 2.0, with a FMIC. It comes with a load of **** I just don't need or want. Feel free to PM me about it.

Alsoooo, got the trans pressure washed today and will be painting it tomorrow.

    Stay tuned.

Ah yea. I usually only concern myself with 1-4, haha. I forget we have things like heat, power steering, radios, and 5th gear, haha.

That ****'s painfully expensive. My clutch alone was 480 now that i think about it. :/

Started the day with painting the trans, as you seen before this post. Decided I wanted to get some more work done on the car today.

    Got the car lifted up,

I started installing the water lines to/from the ice box.

Got a hole cut in the floor for the lines, lined it with some putty so it wouldn't harm the lines.

    Slipped the lines in.

Got everything hooked up, pump feed | pressure line | return line, still needs tightening and mounts made for everything.

This was the part of the build I was really not wanting to tackle, I mean it's not the hard it's just the concept of running 1" 1/4 rubber lines under an already LOW car that I was really hesitant of.

Again, I apologize for the sh!tty cell pics.
Perhaps I will do more tomorrow,

    Take care,
