I currently live in Michigan and moving back home to Philly at the end of the year. Either way, the winters are horrible and salt is everywhere. I am pretty set on purchasing Koni's, but my only concern is rust and corrosion since they aren't SS. Any information on how to prevent corrosion and seizing? Will I have to constantly wash and clean them during the winter months? I read that many ppl grease the threads, but will this have to be done on a regular basis? Any info is appreciated!

We have a lot of customers running these on the east coast and I rarely hear of any issues. And typically when there is a problem, it's with a set that hasn't been touched in years. You are correct that you want to use some sort of spray oil or grease on the threads to protect them. I typically recommend washing them and re-applying a couple times a year. Even if you get stainless coils, i would still recommend this same maintenance as I have seen perches seize up on SS coils as well (keep in mind there are a lot of different grades of stainless)

I am a complete noob when it comes to suspensions. What exactly, in terms of physical work and tools, does this require? Do I have to take it to the shop? Am I just able to do it with the jack that comes with the car?

the cleaning/regreasing doesn't really take any special tools. You will need to be reaching up into the suspension of the car so you DO NOT want it supported by just the factory jack. Basically, just jack the corner of the car up that your going to work on (i prefer an aftermarket floor jack, though the factory will get the job done), place a jackstand under that corner, hose off/wipe off the threaded section of the coilover (you may want to remove the wheel for ease of access, though this is not completely necessary), then re-apply the spray oil or grease that you are using to protect the threads. Be sure to turn the perches up and down a little to make sure you get the grease/oil between the perch and the threaded body.

Will these work on the Jetta VI? If so, anyone have pics?

The standard Jetta VI does not have independent rear suspension, and therefore these will not work on it. I believe all sportwagons have IRS, and this kit will work on those.

Basically, these will work on any MKVI with IRS, and will not work on those with the twist beam (non-IRS) rear suspension.

As long as you have independant rear suspension this kit should certainly work for you (to my knowledge, all golfs come with IRS, and all Jetta wagons here in the states also have it, though we don't have any golf wagons)

    Brand new MKVI.
    These work I believe right?
I spoke to Koni the other day and they confirmed that they have never validated them on the MKVI.

Would I need Strut Mounts/Bearings? $69... as mentioned on your website..

As long as you have an independent rear suspension, these will work on your car. This is the Golfs, GTI's, and Jetta Wagons. When the Jetta GLI comes out it should also have IRS. To my knowledge all standard Jetta VI's do not have IRS.

Koni of North America may not have updated their fitment guide, but Koni worldwide has them listed for the MKVI (www.koni.com then click on worldwide)

The mounts/bearings depend on the mileage on your car. They are just standard replacements so if your car has a low mileage, then you wouldn't need to, if you have a decent amount of mileage on your car, then you may want to consider swapping them out when doing the suspension.

My coils came in 4 days at the slowest/cheapest rate. I was very pleased with whole transaction. WRD customer service is top notch. The Koni's are normally $1400 and I got them for $980. Really? This must be a dream.
Thanks WRD!! I will be buying from you again.

I got my koni's on a few weeks ago. Absolutely love them! FTG 24 F and 24.25 R and they ride awesome. Now I want to go lower. It's very addicting! Once I get her washed I'll post pics. Anyway thanks to WRD for the fast shipment and great customer service.

Only question I have is...is the lifetime warranty through WRD or Koni? The only reason I ask is because I never received the warranty card with the coils?

Warranty is directly through Koni. I believe the warranty information is on the CD in the box. If you ever have any problems, all you need to do is call Koni's North American warranty center. You'll most likely need your invoice (if you don't have it, we can provide it for you, just send me a PM with your name)
