I think they're "David" skull/shells. As if the piece was shot at the factory.
I think it's exactly that. And the creepy factor is a subtle homage to "the best laid plans of mice and men" meaning, the designers engineered in a more human-like emotional parameter, but in execution it is actually a failure because it is so odd.
The same theme will probably be part of the film. Man isn't quite to the capacity to muck about w/what they find, but out of curiosity, pride, greed, etc. a real problem explodes.
Since we're on the topic of "reference movies", here's a spin on that from the directorship point of view. If you haven't seen Blade Runner - watch it. Scott directed it and some of the android/human/playing god themes are played out exquisitely.

What was that snake like flayed creature that strike that one dude. I don't understand why people would literally sit there and observe it at such a close distance. If I was observing it would be well over minimum 6-7 meters away not at less than a meter away common sense damn those horror movies where people are complete lack of common sense but than again it is a movie. Also what the hell was melting that guy top portion of his helmet acid of some sort?![]()

well, I think it's being noticed that it's not gonna be like most of the superhero movies out...especially this summer. watching the trailers you would think it was a tragedy themed movie. very depressing to watch actually.![]()

That international trailer was great!
Words cannot describe my lust for Charlize Theron and her Sci-Fi/post apocolypse/Super hero movie work.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it but the musical score in those trailers is ****ing phenomenal.
Watched Alien again last night, it's just a superb film. Even if you've watched it a million times and the suspense is sort of done, you can still get lost in the attention to detail and craftsmanship.
You think I ain't worth a dollar, but I feel like a millionaire.

Sadly, it's not the score from the film. It's music from "Sarajevo"
I guess it's common (required?) for trailers to use mash-ups of other music.
Apart from the rating issue, I think the one thing the fanboys are worried about the most is the score -- I guess Mark Streitenfeld isn't a favorite of anybody. Peeps weren't reassured when a few weeks ago, Harry Gregson Williams indicated on his blog that he was writing additional music for the soundtrack...
