Goddamnit, the new Prometheus commercials are sponsored by Coors Light. They have Prometheus Coors Light cans.

I'm trying to convince myself that the magic is not gone.

But yeah, that sucks. Coors Light is the official beer sponsor of Prometheus. Cocks.

what do you expect from a big budget studio movie? Maybe a better beer, but i doubt the local micro brew can sponsor a movie...

Some of the articles I read about the tie in had the title "Coors Light goes down smoother than alien larvae", I'm not entirely sure about that .

I dont want to debate about the quality of coors light, we all know it sucks, but if this movie were to be realistic the ships name would be;" the coors light prometheus" with associated logos all over everything. Thank god it dint go that far

I don't know if that's nearly as bad as the Coke Zero billboard I see in downtown Dallas for Battleship. It says "Enjoyed by humans and aliens alike!" and has a spaceship from Battleship holding the Coke Zero can with a tractor beam. Didn't help them any seeing as how the movie seems to have tanked

I could piss in a cup and it would taste better than CL.

That is a pretty ridiculous movie cross promotion. Prometheus didn't need it either.

When i read the plot about using the USS Missouri to fight aliens i just shook my head, and thought well atleast Rhianna is hot and shoots guns in it... Might watch it when it's free on netflix in 6months.

Anyways, i dont mind the advertising, i've become so numb to it over the years i dont even pay attention.

The funny thing is that I'm probably going to see it this weekend. My friend is in the Navy, and his boat is in the movie, so he's all pumped to go see it.

It's basically a commercial add to join the navy. not knocking the navy but it was just so obvious.

That's pretty much what I expect. They filmed it during some USS Missouri celebration in Hawaii. They had ships from all over come down there for it. I doubt the navy would be on board for something like that unless it was a navy recruitment commercial disguised as a movie.

I had always heard that the U.S. military is happy to provide assistance with making movies - as long as it makes them look good.

Back on topic - anyone heard the pathetic radio spots for Prometheus? It's like "kill everything down there!" and then you hear "Prometheus" and it's over. Another one is the one girl saying "we were so wrong!" and then that's it. I've never heard radio ads that short or that didn't really say what it was for.

It may be alien tech - maybe it's his hibernation chamber or something.

one thing I have noticed is that the Engineer seated in that pilot chair thing is a lot smaller than the one in Alien. doesn't really matter i guess but just an observation

just watched the Alien quadrilogy over the weekend and also most of the extra material from the blu-ray box-set. so excite.

one question i had was from Alien Resurrection, where the scientists were cocooned into the nest: why were they still alive, and i'm guessing they were captured and dragged down there? or did they somehow voluntarily make themselves part of the nest? that part has just always left questions hanging in the air for me ...

Getting cocooned alive was something seen in Aliens too... I guess they need the host to be living for a facehugger to do its thing.

yeah, it just seemed like the scientists had been there for a long time and were sort of ... oracle-like in the way they were talking to Ripley about the Newborn. but I guess they were just there as hosts like you said.

i'm thinking so. might be the result of an Engineer/Space Jockey experiment or something that crossed with a human ...

It's actually in the first Alien as well - if you watch the special edition/deleted scenes, Ripley finds Dallas cocooned on the ship. My understanding has always been that the facehuggers need a living host to gestate the egg inside, so it makes sense cocooning them.
