from the mk5 subforum, but thought it better to start a new one given that it relates specifically to a mk6...although probably 90% the same.

Plan is to retrofit park assist to a mk6 without PDC.

    Needed:
    New park module (1T0919475H)
addional wiring harness for Park assist switch in console
addtional wiring for two addtional sensors in front bumper
    addtional sensors, and mountings
    coding

Since the only documented retrofit is on a russian site, I'm still relying on maloosheck to give it a bash with him mk5 jetta, but thus far the fellow has not had a chance.

Getting to you pDC module should you have one already, as below (pics compliments of Kufatec)
Module is under the rain tray near the edge of the windscreen

    Remove rain tray

Remove wipers. looks like there is an addtional bolt after the wiper removal under the rubber covers.

    Loosen indicated retainig nuts

    Remove wiper assembly

    Locate this cover underneith

and there's the PDC module, or where the PDC / Park assits module will go.

As a new parent, I can now see the usefulness of this if you are backing up and a child pops up behind your car since my conscience would KILL me knowing I backed over a kid. That being said, I dont have this feature in my car but its good to know you looked into it.

Parking has little to do with it, just being able to do is the reason! That and having less blank spaces on the console above the gear lever...

    Thanks a lot Belox,

Now i will by the parts and try to retrofit the park assist.

    Thank you

Let me know how you get on. Still trying to find the pin out for the PDC module, know I saved it somewhere.
Side sensor for park assist has a different 'bracket' to the other four PDC sensors. If you find this park number, let me know! Can't see anything on ETKA, seems to marked as 'non-replacement part'

Great thread. It will help to have wiring diagrams of your car and a car that has to go to configuration. If your car is a DSG, the coding in the Mechatronic could be different.

Finally located PDC module pin outs. Would assume park assit module would be much the same, with some additonal pics used for addtional front sensors, and some for the parks assist switch most likley in the same area as the PDC switch.

    HI,
I think that it can help us,

I found a document, in deutsch, with the explanation of the Park assist components if you want i can send it to you, just tell me your email adress.

    regards

  19. 04-25-2011 09:10 PM #19
Nice! Hopefully this isn't too hard, then I'll try to do it myself
I'm about to retrofit PDC, so I wonder if I should wait to see if I can retrofit both at the same time?

I gotta tell ya, our Passat SW is going back off lease in 2 months and I'm going to miss the packing sensors like mad! Don't get me wrong, I can reverse/parallel park my jetta sedan no problem but the sensors make it even easier to park the Passat and let you park in an even tighter spot!

Thinking of getting a JSW TDi and would miss the sensors, so maybe this would be an option.

I think this diagram could help if you already have 8 OPS sensors:

I'm planned to make this swap, I already installed the 8 OPS Sensors......but I will first retrofit the Tiguan RVC, then the Park Assist.

I did swap my Steering Wheel for a new one and module with the CH one. I always got a soft error on the Steering Wheel Assist module that the Parking Assist is missing...so it is time to retrofit

Hopefully my ABS works with Park Assist, I have ESP (1K0 907 379 AC ESP FRONT MK60 0101)and Jetta GLI model is 2007.

Here is a list I compile so far:

    1T0 919 475 H Park Assist Unit
    000 979 009 E Wire to the Control Unit X2
    1K0 927 123 B REH Parking Switch
    4D0 971 636 Plug Parking Switch
    000 979 009 E Parking Switch Wire X3
    1T0 919 297 A GRU Park Assist Sensor X2
    1T0 919 133 C 9B9 Sensor Seal X2
3C0 919 494 GRU Sensor Holder Right (This is just a guess for a Jetta)
3C0 919 493 GRU Sensor Holder Left (This is just a guess for a Jetta)
    1T0 973 203 Sensor Plug X2
    000 979 034 Sensor Wire X3
    06A 972 741 Wire Seal X10
1J0 973 714 8 Pin Bumper Plug from Car (switch form 6 pin to 8 pin)
1J0 973 814 8 Pin Bumper from Bumper (switch form 6 pin to 8 pin)
    000 979 131 E From Car Wire (Related to 1J0 973 714)
    000 979 132 From Bumper Wire (Related to 1J0 973 814)

IF you need; as my case, more space for the console buttons, 5 instead of 4 you need the EOS/Golf VI Console:

    5K0 857 961 9B9 Console for 5 Switches
    5K0 863 487 1QB Console Trim

Seems like too much of a hassle, I can tell how close I am to hitting something within a foot, and in any car I've driven with that feature (all chevys), the car starts beeping like crazy when you get that close.

  25. 05-10-2011 03:12 AM #25
Can't wait for you to do it, please take pics!

I hope this can be retrofitted to the JSW, I don't know if the difference in dimensions will be a problem, hopefully nto since the module is for Golf, EOS, Tiguan, etc...

Not every obstacle is high enough/wide enough to see with mirrors. I have this on another car and it has paid for itself many times over.

Any estimate on cost for this?

My estimate is $430 bucks IF you already have the 8 Optical Parking Sensors.

The costly parts are the Control Unit of course ($157.38) and both Assist Sensors ($80.52 each)

thanks for the updates! Nice progress!

Where is the steering module located? What version did you have before? Will check mine to see what version it is.

Apart from that, someone seemed to find the part number for the bumper sensor holders.

It is located below the Steering Wheel, you have to remove the SW/Airbag and the lower SW cover.
I had before this part number 1K0 953 549 AS.

I'm wating from a friend in Germany to grab the parts and then I will try.

Remember I will do this for a MK5, not sure about MK6 but should be similar I guess.

Biggest question mark is the compatibility of the ABS Module in the cars that want to make this retrofit.
