on a side note, Is anyone going to the autocross in north park today??I may take a ride out to watch for a little bit. I want to get the Delorean out anyways, it will be a nice drive.

Thanks all. I live in Crafton and work in Wheeling and just didn't want to fart around all over town. In the past few years I've been to two different motorcycle shops that didn't have Snell helmets.

Does anyone have any local upholstery shop recommendations? I'm looking for top-notch work, I want to get my mk3 seats (GLX front, GL non-split rear) and door cards done in leather.

My first post in the new Pittsburgh thread

There's a good shop down on River Rd out of Vandergrift right before you get to the drive-in. Guy builds lead sleds on the side, and I've seen some really nice work come out of that shop. Also pretty cool to hang out and talk with as well

Not far off from how it looked this past summer I bet. He'll probably put new tires on it, and a wiring harness and call it a day

Arai, Shoei offer SNELL helmets. I bought mine on eBay brand new for a great price,,,you'll need to find a local dealer for proper fit though.

When I still had a bike, there were talks on various forums and in some moto mags that the SNELL rating may be re-evaluated. That was a few years back though.

Some motorcycle enthusiasts state that Snell standards are too strict in that they try to protect against high speed crashes that although can happen to an ordinary rider, are rare. The argument is that because of the focus on higher speed crash protection, the helmets are too rigid and do not offer enough absorption of energy from a typical crash impact.

What Type of Helmet do Professional Racers Wear?

The Grand Prix Commission (Dorna, FIM, IRTA, MSMA) reaffirmed the rules for 2006 in the Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations (verbatim): Sporting Regulation 2.11.7 - "Helmets must be of the full face type and conform to one of the recognized international standards:

    Europe ECE 22-04 & ECE 22-05 "P"
    Japan JIS T 8133 : 2000
    USA Snell M 2005
    http://www.alivetoride.com/motorcycl...tion_standards
This article was from 2008 though.

I'm guessing your required to have a SNELL certified helmet? I'm not familiar with race requirements.
This is where I write cool sht, right?
