You are sad? What about me then
Nah, for some (beyond my comprehension) reason I am not.
Instead of mourning, we went to a mexican restaurant and I treated myself to a very very tasty chicken fajita
That was the poster car for this forum! (Well, should be - perhaps immortalize it by doing so?)
Sorry to hear about it - At least you're smiling about it!
Want to roll your fenders or Lamin-X your lights in clear or yellow for THE ABSOLUTE CHEAPEST PRICE IN THE GTA? IM me!
"I was thinking about what a friend had said, I was hoping it was a lie."
Ha It's just a push to move to better and newer things, I guess.
Andrew, check your PMs.
All in all, I left work early today as I had an appointment to get the front end aligned.
Little I knew I'll never get that car aligned again
While at almost a full stop and with my brake lights on, redneck with a Cavalier doing about 55 mph rear-ended me...
I saw him flying towards me in the rear view mirror, next thing I know my head is bouncing all over the place
Bumped my car about ten feed forward and got wedged below the pickup truck in front of me.
I am fine. Neck hurts a little bit, but I think it will be ok tomorrow.
Thanks everyone for not popping the semi-retarded 'that will buff right out' though
Well, onto them pics.
A picture is worth a thousand words, right... Well, I got more than 40 photos so far - you do the math:
Don't settle with the dude's insurance before you have to. Your neck hurts. Keep an eye on it (figuratively of course).
When I got hit by the car on my bicycle in May last year the first thing my agent told me was not to settle the bodily injury portion because things can crop up later. I settled the damage to the bike fairly quickly, but sure enough after everything was pretty much healed about two months later, but my left knee was kinda bugging me. I kept thinking "it'll get better" as if I was some young pup still. Well, I was kinda getting ready to settle at the end of summer because "it was feeling okay" (not 100%, but just okay) and then it started to hurt worse again. I finally went to the doctor and had an MRI, got referred to a sports medicine surgical specialist, and had knee surgery right after Christmas to fix damage from the accident. I was on crutches for 6 weeks, strictly forbidden from putting any weight on it. After the 6 weeks, I started physical therapy, which I'm still continuing through the end of this month... almost a year from the accident. I'm getting a lot better, and have actually started riding my bike again, slowly working back up to where I was prior to the accident, but there's a good chance that my knee will never be 100% again, and since last year I've gained ~8 lb. from not being able to train as hard (swimming, biking to work, mountain biking), or at all really for a while after the surgery.
If I had settled with the other guy's auto insurance company when I was just feeling okay, the surgery and physical therapy would either be out-of-pocket or a fight with my health insurance company. I'm not sure how the law works in VA, but in OR, you have up to a year to settle medical bills and two years to settle "bodily injury" which includes "pain and suffering".
If your neck is still sore in a couple days, you should get checked out just to be safe. Good luck man.
EDIT: To be perfectly clear, I'm not advocating (to anyone) a law suit (because most lawsuits are frivolous and unjust IMO) or to make something up and lie and say you're hurt worse than you are to get some big settlement or anything (that would be wrong as well). Only that if you really are injured as a result of the accident, the at-fault insurance company should be on the hook to make sure you get better. That's all.

I had intended my first post on this forum to be an introduction of me and my B4, along with some thanks to all the forum members (and one in particular, IZZO) who have provided me with very useful information over the last couple of years via build threads, how-to's, external links, et cetera...
That will have to wait until post #2
when I saw this post, I was a bit sad. I think it can be agreed upon that izzo has been quite helpful to others in providing detailed information on a variety topics involving the B3/B4
I've seen that he has put A LOT of time and effort into making the car his own and making it quite unique. And he shared that process with everyone.
Thank you IZZO !
Just trying to bring some humor here. This is very sad to see, especially the fact we know it wont be coming back from this. Im sure you wont be leaving our forum, but any ideas whats next?
Feel better buddy, take care of yourself. Hope you get things worked out.

Question is should I buy another B3 and swap everything I have in it, or go big.
Pretty much everything is okay, motor wise - there is no damage, strong as hell depite redlining everyday.
I will need a new passenger side ecode (the glass at least) and rear heckblende and passenger side tails. That's about it.
Deciding factor will be whatever I settle with the insurances, and whether I can find the car I am looking for for the right money.
I've spend over five grand on it easily besides the purchase price.
Lesson learned: don't get attached. Period. May it be a Ferrari, fück it - it's a car, bottom line.
I've had several other cars over here in the US - 1997 2.0 GTI, 2000 A4 TQM, 1984 Rabbit GTI.
None of them lowered, by the way.
I cried when I sold the Rabbit for almost three times what I paid for it. Not ashamed of it. Funny little toy it was.
This was my first though, and most favorite of all. Will be always in my heart.
I did not shed a tear for it when it happened however. I take it as a chance to move onto better things, that's it.
That's tthe thing that sucks about rare parts, or putting a lot of time, effort, and money into a car. It only takes one person to mess it all up.
However, the important thing is that you're okay. i know everyone says **** like this, but a car or its parts can be replaced. You and your parts cannot. Well, not easily anyway.
Two thoughts immediately come to mind.
1. We're like 20 replies in, and no vultures have swooped in asking about the part out.
2. What's next? I may be biased, but I think you should join the darkside and go for a B3 wagon.
All I can say is I'm sorry about the car but more than anything I'm glad to know your okay.
