Hopefully VW is watching this thread closely for future limited models to offer in the US.

Great thread though and can't wait to see what others come up with. It definitely has me wishing for a R version.

Figuring out what to do with the rear wing is another issue. Lastly, we can *not* drop this on bags as the car would be coming from VW and there are conditions to the project. We can however put adjustable coilovers on it.

So what do you guys think? Ideas? Suggestions? Solutions?

Amazing News. I would volunteer to make the side graphics. It would have to be something original, more tailored to the Beetle. Was there ever a Super Beetle Script? Can VW email me the vector based dimensions so that I can work proportionally? You may want to select a Vinyl color first then color match the wheels to that. May I recommend that the interior have black leather with orange stitching? PM me.

The difference here is the car is already coming so it is just an issue of coming up with limited versions similar to the MKIV Jetta GLI 1.8t. I believe it was mentioned that they were even looking to do various versions through the life of the model.

Here's my crappy chop, inspired by the Macadamia Brown color that Porsche offers for the 911 turbo.

I was holding off replying to this thread, but I just had to respond once I saw this. I'm anxious to see what it would look like from various angles and what kind of performance you can squeeze out of it to back up those amazingly aggressive Porsche inspired looks. I know you can get the ambient interior lighting in various colors, maybe you could somehow modify it to match the orange coloring on the outside? (I don't think orange was one of the lighting color options mentioned.) Also, I think someone mentioned putting a splitter in the front (and a diffuser in the back), which I think isn't a bad idea since it has a look based heavily on a purebred racing Porsche.

It would be a fantastic project. We haven't had a great one since 1552's ProjectX. The trick is to enhance the sporty ambitions of the 2012 Beetle, without making it a total caricature. Something akin to a fwd Golf R in sheep's clothing. GT3 wheels? yes! Massive wing? Perhaps not, just depends.

    I think you're brilliant!

It definitely needs to be very low - coilovers will be a must. it offsets the roundness of the beetle vs. the real thing. i like the adapters idea. that would probably be easiest. i'm sure someone around the 'tex has a spare set of gt3rs wheels or replicas laying around...As i recall, there is a member on here with a 911 that has a crazy auto-adjusting computerized rear wing. Might be able to talk to the shop that did his work for doing a one-off beetle rear wing.

    great idea. LOVE it.

This could be a beautiful project. I would kill to see a Beetle like that - in a racing series. Surely VW must have plans for the revival of the Beetle cup, or an RSI project.

Go with the GT3 style one but do a larger version of the Formula Vee side graphic. I would Photoshop it but I'm too lazy.
