Maybe, but i guess it doesn't hurt to try? My bro has a claybar kit for his reflex golf tdi but hasn't used it yet, ill let you know if he does it sometime soon but he probably wont cause hes a lazy **** it's been sitting in the garage for like 2 years now lol

I actually used automotive gloss black with satin clear... I haven't tried to wax it yet though.
I used to work as a detailer at a Toyota dealership... The clay bar cleans all the stuff that is baked on your paint from over the years. It does make a huge difference depending on how the car was taken care of before. I had a dark green Bonneville a few years ago that I used a clay bar on. The paint had so much shine and in the sun, the paint would would turn a dark purple.
I used Mothers clay bar kit and it worked great. It comes with a spray bottle of stuff, but you can use just soapy water. Just don't drop the car on the ground... All the dirt will stick to it and its just best to throw it out. Don't want the dirt rubbing the paint.

night and day different in how the surface looks and feels. My car felt like you were touching sand paper from all the built up road grime. DO IT stop being lazy mike haha and it will look awesome. I split my process different days and i focused on parts like fenders, bumper, lower pieces of all four doors, and anything closer to the ground that gets alot of abuse from tires spitting up dirt, sand etc. It made a huge difference and 20$ for the mequires kit was all worth the time and effort.

just an example of why the mk4 forums are useless nowadays.

I'm happy for you that you love your car...and realize vortex is an enthusiast site...but wait til you have some work done to post, it just makes more threads to sift through when trying to find a resource or build thread, if everyone posted like this the mods would be overwhelmed...threads without a real purpose usually end up just getting locked.

I see where you are coming from. Didn't mean to cause any frustration. But I do feel that when you look at the amount of work that has gone into the car, it adds up. They may not all be mods, but not every thread HAS to be for modded out cars. I do understand both sides tho.

Got my build thread up and goingLink is in my sig.

Small update for the week. Cleaned the snow screen today for the air intake. It was filthy and I have a feeling the car was running on the secondary air flap built into the tube. After cleaning this the car ran much smoother and feels better in general. Also; I have been looking for a good performance downpipe for about a week now. I cant find much info other than people saying the Techtonic's TDI downpipes crack, which is why I suppose they aren't listing them on their website anymore. Kerma TDI makes one but it is almost 400 dollars and is just the pipe, this seems like a waste as it doesn't come with a performance cat or any cat for that matter, even if the down-pipe is worth its weight in stainless steel, it probably isn't the one for me. If anyone has any suggestions then please let me know. Other than that the vacuum pump seals are being changed as well as the oil next week. Cheers![]()

I heard GHL also made TDI downpipe's not sure if they still do, just go to an exhaust place and see how much a custom one would cost ya![]()

the front page is where you go to look for a resource? seems inefficient.
search usually works pretty good for thatunless your resource includes "I felt like my TDI deserved a thread" then i guess you're just f'd.
let the kid do his thing. obviously passionate about his car

Thanks guys. Couldn't agree more. No need for the negative comments, if you have a problem with my thread, just move on. Simple as that![]()

Update: Intake manifold and EGR valve being cleaned sometime late next week. Should get some good power and miles per gallon back once its done. Then in a few weeks I am getting dimpled and slotted front rotors with metallic pads as mine are warping and the pads are grooving slightly.

I was looking at a new downpipe for mine too, but the cheapest I've seen is $250 + shipping for just the pipe and I still need to add a cat which will be an extra $100. I'll probably end up looking at an exhaust shop making one too.
If your intake is dirty like mine was, you'll definitely notice a difference when its cleaned. I'm actually able to chirp my tires now![]()

Just wanted to chime in regarding the downpipe and help out a fellow TDI'er,
This is where I bought my downpipe from, I ordered 2 downpipes and split the shipping with a friend.
