I have a few questions about the Digifant 2 system.
I have 90 Golf that has a 037 906 022 M ECU in it. The ECU from my Brother's car had a different letter in it.
What do the differences in part numbers mean? Can they be interchanged? Does it matter if the ECU is chipped?
Any addition information on the Digifant system is welcome, I'd like to learn all I can about it!

      Any help is greatly appreciated!

Depending on the actual letter, it may indicate the brand of ECU, Bosch, Ken, Bosch-Ken, or Siemens.
Other things to consider fpr the US market, is RV engine vs PF engine (Europe had different engine codes but the ECU may be the same as a US ECU based on the part #.
The main difference is the RV has a single outlet manifold and down pipe.
The PF engine has a dual outlet manifold and down pipe, a 5 hp, 5 ft/lbs tq over the RV engine.

The other difference is with and without diagnostics.

Only with the exact part # can we decipher what your bro has.

037 906 022 BA is for a California Digifant 2 with PF engine code.
The compatible replacement ECU is part # 037 906 022 DX.

FYI both of these ECUs have been dropped from VW, your best bet is to search the classifieds, or I can look into this for you. I go junking often and will keep my eyes open.
You can IM me your phone # and email, I will contact you if I locate one.

and just a FYI...i have two other computers in my garage, all DigiII computers, all with different part numbers on them...I have tried these two, taken from junked/parted out cars, in my car and noticed absolutely no difference in performance or driveability between the other two and my stock computer...so from this I can only gather than the programing differences between DigiII computers isn't that much different...

      Hi,
      I have problem with my ECU VW 037 906 022 CS/BOSCH 0 261 200 294. My car is Jetta 1.8.
I'm trying to find low price solution because ECU also need to be shipped to Bulgaria.
Does anyone knows which ECU VW 037 906 022 numbers could work with my car?
      Regards,
      Nikolay Iliev

      Thank you Eric!
I found some offers in eBay and received some others from forum's members. Internet search takes time but you could save a fortune. I'm really looking for a cheap solution. My Jetta's engine is RV. I've just received for test ECU from Passat with PB engine from member from Bulgarian's VW forum. Do you think it could work? If you are interested I'll write the answer next week after the test.

      Hi All,
Just for the record. My car's engine code is RV. ECU VW 037 906 022 CS. Test with ECU VW 037 906 022 AN (from VW Passat PB engine code) was successful ... for now.
      Regards,
      Nikolay Iliev
