I'm not real happy with them. They're only temporary. My material didn't show up in time.

love the wheels i had a set on a mk3 a long time ago, are you switching to a 5lug setup? or did you get some 4x100 to 5x112 adapters custom made?

Honestly it would have been easier for me to switch to 5 lug. I ordered the Adaptec design two adaptors two months ago. Not happy with my infrequent UPS/FEDEX visits.

I haven't had a whole lot of time to mess with the car lately, but what little time I have had has been trying to track down a no start issue I was having. Even though I wen't through the wiring more times than I should, I was afraid something got wired wrong. Fortunately, everything tested out. This has been going on for a good week or so. Today I noticed a difference in the distributor cap part numbers.

Well, apparently I fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is never get involved in a land war in Asia - but only slightly less well-known is this: always double check your firing order! When switching out the distributor, I noticed the firing order was wrong. Swapped them around and it fired right up.



Time to put humpty back together again.

Mini update. I've been getting some of the small stuff out of the way. Haven't had a ton of time lately to work on the car. I would like to drive it this weekend.

I did a knowledge base trade with Paul. My threaded insert tool for a fan shroud. I had to do some work on the west side, so we met up and made the trade.

He just had to cut it for me, from there, it had to be bent, and modified to fit my radiator. The mounting tabs on the radiator also needed to be cut down and the bottom clearanced for the mounting pins for everything to fit properly. I took it over to my friend Steve at Detroit Bros. to have it bent and saw this bad boy.


It was built for the Motor City Motors show. I never saw the episode. It's powered by an Arctic Cat Diesel modified to run on vegatable oil. I would have to say it's pretty wicked looking. Must be a blast to ride.

With the shroud all bent and modified, I used more of the threaded inserts for mounting the fan, got it in the car and wired up.

Started in on the brakes only to find out I am missing one of the Pins for the G60's. Going to have to go to the yard and find one. I did get the drivers side in.

Other than that, there's not much short of aligning the steering rack and throwing the body panels back on. I am working on smoothing the slam panel, but that should be done tonight.

I still haven't gotten back on the wheels yet. Tires are waiting at the shop. Hopefully, I can get over there this weekend and have them mounted up. No use as I am still waiting on adaptors. 2 Months, 9 Days in counting

That bike is badass, too. I saw the episode when it aired the first time. Love the stretched out rider position and that giant front tire. Reminds me of batman without the balloon tires:

Pastel? Really? You mean non-metallic. If it were pastel, it would look baby blue or lighter.

I got the pin I need for the passenger brake last night, but didn't have time to put it on. was helping a friend with his 1.8t MKI.

More assembling this weekend. Got the Struts mounted up, fenders on, slam panel finished up for now, It's still not perfect, but needed to go back on. Best News yet, it moves, well somewhat. Brakes don't fit behind the wheels even with spacers. Looks like I'm going to need some bigger spacers. I need another 3-5mm. I still need to wire up the lights in the front, bolt the bumper back on and install the grill and some interior bits and she's done for now.



Canceled my order with Fifteen52, going to go 5 lug dual pattern. It will give me more fitment options as opposed to running a single fixed size adaptor. Should have done this from the beginning, but I thought I had options.

Progress has been slow as of late. I did get some stuff done this weekend however. The wiring short of the blower motor is done. I wired the lights up choosing to wire them directly into the harness rather than use the factory connector. The factory connector is rather bulky and once I put the grille and lower facia and grille in there wasn't a whole lot of room left. I still had to leave room for the bumper brackets as well. Cory stopped by on saturday and we got the hood on. with the hood in place, I couple give it it's first bath in 2 years.

From there, I re timed the motor as it was a little off, pulled the wheels an spacers off, did some grinding on the calipers and refitted the wheels. We've got clearance! not much mind you, but clearance. I also painted the grilles and installed the passenger seat and interior plastics. Planning on running without a headliner until I come across a suitable replacement.

With the timing more or less spot on, she really pulls and the brakes are great. I still need to mount the bumper and replace the passenger side tie rod as the one I used is a bit too long and try and align it the best I can in the garage.

I would rather not pay for a proper alignment at the moment as I will be swapping everything back out for 5 lug parts once they arrive and I get them redrilled.

Here's a pre-wash pic to hold you over. I need to get on Garrett to get over and finish the detailing. Or I may even make a drive out to him if I feel comfortable.

Haven't updated the thread in a while. Work has been crazy all summer so the car has pretty much been sitting. I have been driving it, but the final drive bearings in the trans are smoked, so it doesn't go far on those drives. I forgot we had a spare for the lemons car, so I picked that up this past weekend. I need to clean it up, paint it and swap them.

The hubs and rotors have been drilled, but need to be tapped yet. We have our last local GTG in October and I'm hoping to have this work done by then. Here's a couple pics I snapped with my phone today.
