It;s part of the low pressure fuel pump, entire pump would need to be replaced. The pump is inside the gas tank. This is technically not part of the scheduled maintenance service. I don't know if anyone has done it or not...

I looked into this a while back.
I was told that the Passats have the fuel filter with the pump, just like mention above...
I dont know why VW did this... maybe they needed to make money off the Passats with repair bills as I hear the Fuel Filter replacement is a MUST for the 2.0T.

Hi every one!
I’m too was totally bogged about VW dealers telling me that there was no need to change the fuel filter and if some day this became necessary, I’ll need to change the hole fuel pump. IT’S A LIE!!!
There are two parts that need to be changes (I usually change mine every 50Kkm) the fuel captor part number 3c0919679a and the pump carcass that comes with the filter 3c0919715.
PLEASE MIND THAT THOSE PART NUMBERS ARE FOR A 2006 PASSAT 2.0 16V FSi 150HP ASPIRATED (NON TURBO) ENGINE
