    This looks promising...

Hell on Wheels is a contemporary Western that centers on former Confederate soldier Cullen Bohannon, portrayed by Anson Mount, whose quest for vengeance has led him to the Union Pacific Railroad's westward construction of the first transcontinental railroad. Developed by Endemol USA and produced by Entertainment One (eOne) and Nomadic Pictures, Hell on Wheels is created, written, and executive-produced by Joe and Tony Gayton (Faster, Uncommon Valor, The Salton Sea, Bulletproof). The series premieres Sun., Nov. 6 at 10/9c.

Hell on Wheels underscores the network's commitment to the Western, following its first original mini-series event, Broken Trail. The mini-series premiere, in Jun. 2006, was the second-most-watched cable movie since 1995 and delivered the network record ratings, including an average 7.7 household rating and nearly 10 million total viewers over its two-night airing.*

"AMC's commitment to the Western is long-standing, and the genre is an important part of our brand and history as a channel," said Charlie Collier, president of AMC. "In Hell on Wheels, AMC is creating another epic and enduring American story."

In addition to Mount (City by the Sea, Cook County, ABC's Line of Fire), Hell on Wheels stars musician-actor Common (Just Wright, Date Night) as Elam, Dominique McElligott (Moon, The Philanthropist) as Lily Bell, Colm Meaney (The Conspirator, Get Him to the Greek) as Durant, Ben Esler (The Pacific) as Sean, Phil Burke (Mercy) as Mickey, and Eddie Spears (Into the West) as Joseph.

Hell on Wheels tells the epic story of post-Civil War America, focusing on a Confederate soldier (Mount) who sets out to exact revenge on the Union soldiers who have killed his wife. His journey takes him west to Hell on Wheels, a dangerous, raucous, lawless melting pot of a town that travels with and services the construction of the first transcontinental railroad, an engineering feat unprecedented for its time. The series documents the railroad's engineering and construction as well as institutionalized greed and corruption, the immigrant experience, and the plight of newly emancipated African-Americans during Reconstruction. Hell on Wheels chronicles this potent turning point in our nation's history and how uncivilized the business of civilization can be.

Joining the Gaytons as executive producers are Jeremy Gold, Endemol's SVP of scripted programming, and John Shiban and David Von Ancken, who directed the series pilot. eOne's CEO, John Morayniss, and SVP of creative affairs, Michael Rosenberg, oversee production in partnership with producers Mike Frislev and Chad Oakes at Nomadic Pictures.

Shot on location in Alberta, Canada, the series is produced with assistance from the government of Alberta's film-development program.

AMC's Joel Stillerman, SVP of original programming, production, and digital content; Susie Fitzgerald, SVP of scripted programming; and Jason Fisher, SVP of production, oversee series production for the network.

Endemol holds all television distribution rights across Europe, with eOne selling Hell on Wheels in all remaining territories. As a leading international content distributor, eOne also handles worldwide rights for DVD, Blu-ray, video on demand, and digital distribution.

It premiered last night. I haven't watched it yet, but wanted to remind anyone that might have forgotten about it.

I remembered it and tuned in about 1/2 way thru---then turned it off as I was lost. I'll try again tonight, but tuning in to a scene where a camp is being overrun by a war party of natives was quite confusing!

This was interesting. I feel like I'm missing something as my DVR tuned in as the main character was shooting a guy in the face in a confessional. Do they give a backstory on how he knows who killed his wife?

I'll keep watching and see where this goes.

Don't think I could take an entire season of Common's overacting face.

After the second one, I'm a bit 'meh' on this. The acting isn't completely terrible, but the storyline is a bit predictable.

It's slow in some parts, but it's quite interesting at least. Interesting enough to watch it again this week.

I saw a commercial for this when the girlfriend and I were catching up on The Walking Dead and think that this may be the next show that we watch. I love Western themed stuff and AMC has been really good lately with The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad so it can't hurt to give it a chance.

I wish AMC had full episodes up online, though.

AMC Renews ‘Hell On Wheels’ For Season 2

I have all of the episodes on my TiVo but haven't watched them yet. Sometimes I like to wait until a new show is picked up for a second season before watching a new show. I hate to get invested in a new only for it to get canceled.

    Now I can watch

I'm the same way with new shows. It has happened to me in the past and I'll be damned if I let it happen again.

I'm sure if I set a timer for the show on my DVR I'll be able to compile all of Season 1 pretty quickly.

I just started watching this show. AMC showed every 1st season episode back to back over the weekend and I DVR'ed them.

I've seen the first two episodes and I'm hooked! I can't wait to finish the 1st season and start watching the second season (which I also have set to record).

Same here, just watched all of them on Netflix. Awesome show, I've got the second season recording.

The soundtrack I found on Spotify is pretty good too.

I really like this show. Bohannon is a great character. So is The Swede ("...but... I'm from Norway..." haha).

My wife was echoing some of the comments in here about it being a little slow, but I'm a fan! We finished season 1 last night (Netflix) and I'm looking forward to season 2.

Just burned through Season 1 thanks to Netflix. No "Breakin Bad", but definitely worth watching. I enjoyed it, and will wait patiently for Season 2 to come to Streaming.
