Crappy night on a customer car. Still had time to blow off some steam and cut **** up!

I keep telling myself that this crap's going to add up.

And i've got to rant about people putting batteries in the back of the car for performance. 0 gauge wire through the whole GD length of the car, a battery box, rear cutoff switch, and all the little fixings are what, 10-12lbs? So, you're adding overall weight just to move existing weight around. Dumb. So, despite how much i want to get weight off the front, my battery will live in the front. If you get the car as light as possible, you can always add ballast exZactly where you want it. (hanging under the rear of the car in my case?)

I'm sorry, i had to get that off my chest. I feel better.

My wire only weighed a couple pounds, my battery box is not even one pound.
      But then again..

Moving the battery wasn't a performance decision.. it was a space one. lol.
Now that I think about it.. all my Air/Water equipment.. has to be adding up. lol.

It does look prettier without it sitting in there. Or if you've got an icebox chillin in your bay. I'm with that.

From your statements, it is obvious you don't care about winning or even a podium position. When I enter a race it is my solemn believe that I am going to win, not just beat a Mullet Mobile (mustang).

Racers (not drag monkeys) relocate a battery to help with weight distribution, because better weight distribution is PARAMOUNT in a FWD. You say that moving 12 lbs to the trunk isn't worth it. Don't forget that at 1G, weight is doubled. So, your 12lbs battery is now 24lbs and a perfect ballast in the rear.

I just can't believe you are going to put all that work into a car, register it and drive it down to Gainesville from MD just to try to beat Mustangs. The Scirocco has won national championships in autocross, so why would you just ACCEPT that the CRX is going to win again and not build for the autox.

I wish you luck but you shouldn't call us RACERS dumb for a mod that has proven to be a good use and help with weight distribution.

Whoa, i didn't mean so much hate man. I don't think you're dumb. It's not just moving but ADDING is what i'm concerned about. (there's a drag portion too, and i want it in the front there) And i told you i was planning on some ballast.

But to call me a non racer because i drag race is silly. You must know that we compete and race just like every other area.

In our pm convo, i was just taking a car for reference. Mustangs have had a good showing in previous challenges. I appreciate your thoughts, and i'm planning to use most of them.

Sorry if i gave you the wrong vibe.

And for the record, there were 2 mustangs in the top 52 there last year(12 and 13 finishers)

      There were no, NO crx's.

I really shouldn't post until I have had my coffee. Sorry if I came off a touch harsh.

With that said, I believe this car could win, PERIOD. Its not a given that the CRX will win again. A good driver can make up a great deal of time, even in a 35 second autox. I would hate for you to go though all this work and get beat by a little bit in the autox because of some small but important details.

Once again, sorry but racing is my passion...

Agreed if this was the mk3 forums the past few comments would have turned into a barrage of name calling and non sense and yet another great thread would have gotten

My biggest thing right now is tires.

      I need-
20x8x14 MT slicks....which aren't the easiest to find used anymore. I'll probably end up making a more common 22x8x13, but then i've got to find 2 rims.

-Some kind of used auto-x slicks. Hopefully 14" for the biturbo wheels. The T1-rs could do ok, but of course, they're a street tire, and they're kind of a big part of my budgeting right now. I got these because i hope to be tagging this thing, and driving it this summer.

Grand total on the car right now without the Short runner is about $1350, $1130 without the toyo's...

So, $600-800 to find 6 tires, and try to fit the intake manifold(and maybe a real cam?) in the budget. Tough bill. I'll be asking all around.

You know, that thought crossed my mind. I thought i'd seen something of that nature. I've always been halfway considering just keeping the daily t1-r's on for the auto-x, so i guess i never really read into that area of the rules.

I'll start this update by saying how much i love Techtonics Tuning products. Seriously, this header is exquisite for the money. I payed 440 shipped for this header and exhaust, and i could not have spent my money better. 1.75" race header-2.25" system with resonator and Magnaflow.

My intake came in, but it's not going on yet

      Honda parts=reliability
      Mild trimming in order.

      Pullies n' shiiiiit!

Passenger window works now, and panels are "together"

      I love this GD header

Oh, and i grabbed a cheap TT276 cam to replace my 268 Yea yea, it's safe for now considering my ****ty stock valves.

It gets pretty close in a couple places, so i should do some kind of heat shielding, but i wasn't planning on it.
