      FULL STORY

Since the debut of the first Golf GTI in 1976, this sporty Volkswagen has enjoyed an uninterrupted history of success spanning 35 years. The GTI has long become a car with cult appeal as well as an independent brand. Milestone GTI anniversaries have always been celebrated with exclusive special models. Volkswagen now continues in this tradition with the Golf GTI Edition 35: its coherent design approach combines classic GTI elements with features specially created for the Edition 35.

Doubt it makes it here and if it does it will probably not come with the lip spoiler due to cost shaving .

Edit: Wheels are intersting though. Kind of dig em.

it wont come here. its the 28th anni for the US right now. 30th ann. will be 2013. so maybe as a 2013 model in 2012 if the R is successful .. but then again they are advertising the R at 256hp so they wouldnt bring a cheaper 235hp car. makes no sense... BUT I WANT THOSE WHEELS!.

Wheels are cool, I wonder if the LED tails are even darker than the R tail....

I'd be curious if they did anything other than re-map the ecu for the increased horsepower and I assume torque. Based on all the scare threads warning against boost increases we all know the TSI is limited in its potential.

Ahh, but the MKV Edition 30 had strengthened internals over the MKV GTI. Perhaps they may have done something similar here too.

Also noticed it has KESSY fitted - Keyless Entry and Start System.

Apparently Tech specifications should be announced at the beginning of June to coincide with the Worthersee show in Germany.

Perhaps 5%-10% more than a regular, well-equipped GTI in Europe. What was your point, again?

Exactly! Nothing really new here :/ Just marketing hype; sad but this is the reality.

      I still VW though!

Clearly they're trying to reference the classic GTIs and then the last anniversary edition, a la the 337 in the US, but it just doesn't work for me. The knock off pseudo BBS wheels look right off of an American car, and the exterior features, while nice, are not enough. The bump in power is a nice little addition. Unlike the 25th anniversary car, I'd be pretty surprised to see this one in the US.

I do see the resemblance, but the vw one's are much better executed and not as cheap looking.

You can make the same case that they look like BBS RC's.

I would say that they look WAY better then the SRT rims though. I think they suit the car well.
