This guy had the motor fs and I made a trip to his house in Compton to see it. I had a few issues... the vr that he said was obd1is in fact obd2. He then was telling me that obd1 vr motors had coilpacks and it would work fine in my 92 slc. He was right, it can work. But it requires some modification which I didn't plan on doing. Also, the motor has been stored outside with the head off the block. Moisture did get inside the block and there was light surface rust inside the cylinders. He cleaned the rust but when I asked if the motor turned (which it did) you could clearly see where the pistons had been sitting in each cylinder. He thinks the motor can be dropped in a car how it is right now. Which after seeing it I would never do. the only reason I went to see it was because I was planning on rebuilding it anyways. Now my last issue. He had it for sale for $350 obo and I emailed him and called him and we talked about it and when I drove from temecula all the way to Compton and start dealing on it he is telling me that he was getting offers for 4 and 5 hundred dollars. If that was true, why didn't he take it? So when he had it posted for 350 and that is what I brought he wanted more. And I saw that he just edited the post asking 500 for the motor. Dont let him waste your time like I did. That motor isn't worth 500 dollars.

I really don't know what this guys problem is. First off he text me back and forth about coming down to see the motor for about 2 weeks straight telling me he's coming down and then he can't make it constantly. I originally posted the motor up for $350 OR BEST OFFER because I had just moved and did'nt know what they go for. I never said the motor could be dropped in a car which is obvious to anyone who sees a motor with the head off. I was completley honest about everything about the motor which anyone can see from reading his rant above. I would never try to sell it to anyone without them seeing it. This guy knew everything about the motor and any changes I made to price well before he came out which you can see from reading his reply above. Bottom line this motor is in good condition, what you'd expect from a motor with 80,000 miles. This motor is from a 95 passat wagon which is OBD1 with coil packs which he can't seem to understand that anything pre 96 is OBD1. I never twisted his arm to buy it and he even says he came down to make a deal (read above). As far as me not selling it yet for thr 4 or 500 is because those people have'nt actually come to see the motor yet. As far as I know all 12v VR6 are about the same and can be used with some modification in another car regardless of it being obd1 or 2, coilpack or distributor (from looking in the bentley you would just have to switch out the came gear and cam gear cover. he came down like he knew everything and did'nt and I never even knew all the details of his car being distributor or not. I was only trying to help him out with those details and this is what I get. This guy is trying to hold me accountable for him not knowing jack about a vr6 and not conducting good bisuness. He knew the price went up before he came down (read above) and any changes I made (taking the head off the motor so people can see for themselves) and cleaning the block and head. The motor is for sale with new oem headbolts, a new mk4 headgasket and new ARP rod bolts to who ever makes the best offer.

I forgot to touch on one thing. He's saying that he could see where the cylinders had been sitting, well that's because after I cleaned the piston's and cylinder walls I sprayed them with lubricant to protect everything from rust. So naturally there's gonna be a line where I sprayed everything but nothing that won't literally wipe right off with a paper towel that's it. If anyone has doubts just come see for yourself hell you can bring measuring equipment if you want. I have nothing to hide and I just don't do shady business period. This guy's just butt hurt that he did'nt get away with what he intended. Hit me up for what you need (310) 251-1318

I'll post pics as soon as I can and I'm more than happy to answer any questions anyone has. Thanks vortex

This thread has been up for 5 months and has been edited a few times. I changed the price earlier this week and made it more clearly defined today. Things have been sold and most prices have been lowered. Since I posted this thread a while ago things have changed. You also said that you saw that I changed the price when you were at my house yesterday. The motor was originally at a friends house sitting in a crate and at that point I put up "make offer" for the motor and $350 or best offer for the tranny. When people started asking if the price was for both I edited it. I never had a price up for the motor period because I did'nt know what they went for so I posted "make offer" for the motor. Then I moved it to my place, cleaned it up, acquired the New Oem Headbolts, Mk4 Headgasket and ARP rod bolts and added those to go with the motor and I explained that to you and anyone else who asked about it. And I always made it clear to anyone interested that everything is best offer same as I did with you when we first talked a few weeks ago. You text me yesterday saying "You know it's last minute... but is yesterday good to come down and Check It Out". You came down checked it out and asked if it was obd1 I said yes and that it's a coilpack head then you told me your car was distributor and that there different and would'nt work. I waited while you made all the phone calls to make sure everything would work which you originally said with confidence would'nt and that a coilpack or obd2 head as you call it are different and your buddy that was with you said just like me that it would'nt be cost effective for vw to cast 2 different heads, 1 for coilpack and 1 for distributor and it was just the accessories. Then I went and got my old Corrado bentley to show you just that. That to use my coilpack head you would just need to swap the cam cover on the side and maybe one of the cam gears. After you made all the phone calls you made an offer for $350 and I declined it simple as that. If we had originally agreed to $350 why negotiate and I just would'nt of wasted my or anyone elses time. Your making it sound like in your original post that everything happened in one day. I explained everything to you through out this entire ordeal. I explained to you about a week ago over the phone that I had'nt even looked at the motor and when I did the motor was in much better condition than I thought. Bottom line you had in your head that all obd1 motors are distributor and it made sense to you when I posted that it's obd1 that it would have a distributor and you found out otherwise when you came down that some obd1 VR6 have a coilpack. F.Y.I. Anything pre 96 is obd1 coilpack or not. Have a nice weekend
