This owns so hard
I would feel so stupid if I had shelled out $300 for a lip made of carbon nanotubes or whatever

here it is people hope you enjoy if have any questions let me know.
Disclaimer: Not liable if this project fails on you
Supplies Used:
* Garage Door Bottom Seal
* 3m Double Sided Tape
* Scissors
Directions:
* Break out the jack stands or wheel ramps and get your lift on! For easier access to the bottom of the bumper
*Measure the length of piece you need then cut off the remaining
* Cut a small V shape piece out where the green light is shown
* 3M time! Run 3m along the Bottom Seal (as shown in red). Due to it not sticking i used super super glue to ensure it sticks. Then let it dry for a few minutes
* Start to apply the Bottom Seal to the bumper, making certain the seal is in the position of your liking
Should look like this when attach to the bumper or close to it.
Finally once on trim the ends to your desire on how sharp you want it.
Had this on the car for a few weeks now and is still holding up. Drove about 100 mph to see if it will fall off and so far it hasn't. Been through a car wash and it is still holding on.

The whole cost with tape was about $15. I already had the glue.

I made a front lip out of that weed edging plastic stuff once for a Fiero I had. I love to see stuff like this that's freaking cool.
It's ok if you disagree with me, I can't force you to be right.

always love ghetto mods like this. Maybe use a couple screws just to make sure it doesnt come off??
There is already holes there for the other lip you can use

Oman that's awesome!!!
Great diy!!!
I'd say if it works well, lasts (3m automotive tape is really strong when applied properly), and looks great: then awesome!!! Do it!!!
Remember, golfs and jetta vi are <40k.
If spending over 5k on upgrades... May as well get something else: Audi.
Peace!!
Awesome post!!!
Don't like it, go buy a Beemer!

Nice.
Almost as good as the dryer hose intake duct I would fab for my CIS/CIS-E MkIIs back in the day.
Props for the creativity.

it holds up pretty well for a long time, no need to put screws in it. had one for a few months before finally getting the euro lip.

No ****ing way. I am not going to lie, when I saw the title of the thread I thought it was going to be awful. Not sure how I feel about it though.

That actually doesn't look bad at all....some cars' front valance are not made of something too dissimilar to rubber anyway.....

Good alternative to spending the money for the euro lip...
If you want the euro look, without the price, this is the route to go..
Of course, if you can afford the real thing, it does look much better in my opinion
Nice write up though![]()

Nice work. This is a not uncommon mod in the Miata universe. Looks good on a GTI!

Doesn't it flap in the wind while driving though? or at least bend while driving so even though it looks ok parked, it looks all contorted on the road? Or is it stiff enough that this doesn't happen?
#29
le ghetto ... i already have the double sided tape haha. maybe i will attempt this for kicks before eventually ordering the real lip![]()

Doesn't it flap in the wind while driving though? or at least bend while driving so even though it looks ok parked, it looks all contorted on the road? Or is it stiff enough that this doesn't happen?its pretty solid when going down the road because the structure of it holds it in place. Have to put some force to it to bend or flap. Will try to get a rolling shot for you for better details.Good question...how rigid is it?

If anybody that does do this mod please share with feedback and pictures
