Remember back in the day when GM vehicles had vents for your balls?

and when they still had R12 in them, you could cause MASSIVE shrinkage?

I miss those days... the days of dry, cold balls on long road trips while sitting on vinyl split bench seats and shifting on the column...

What cars do you remember with crotch vents?
Obviously, my big memory came from a 1986 Caprice Classic Wagon

Couldn't agree more. My wife's first vehicle was an inherited 1990 Dodge Caravan. That vent was amazing. Only thing that comes close now, is driving with your left foot out the window.

Makes sense. The cabin is ALWAYS 500 degrees(exaggerated) and its an early 1990's dodge. lol.

Now the ball blower has to sit in the passenger seat.

They coincided with the death of the manual transmission. Fewer manuals = fewer people with balls.

The cooled seats in the Optima that I test drove did a good job of keeping my fellas fairly cool.

I haven't personally owned one, but have driven and been a passenger in vehicles with air conditioned seats. Let me tell ya, those are top notch

Saabs had those vented seats too... I didn't have them, but it's a valid alternative

I disagree. If your car is equipped w/ auto climate control and you set it at the right combination to go along w/ the outside air temp/humidity. You can really keep your nads cool w/out shrinkage.

though most GM cars of that era only really had two settings:
    frost and fusion

We must not have those in Florida.

After having driven a Cadillac DTS in August in Florida, I can tell you that cooled seats are an outstanding alternative to the ball vent and well worth the price.

Was thinking that, but it just seemed unlikely to me for that car to be in England.

I do not understand why some coupes make the grade and others do not. Everyone knows, for instance, that the Corrado was as tasty as an East End prize fighter with the looks of a Benetti super-yacht. The four-cylinder was good, but the VR6 was about as close as you could get to Ferraridom without buying a Ferrari. And what happened? You all went to the pub instead. -Jeremy Clarkson-
