HeadLight: (Models: S, SE, SEL, TDI)

1. Head Light = h7
2. High Beam = h7
3. DRL = 1156
   
4. Turn Signal = 7507 (NO BULB REPLACEMENT AT THE MOMENT)
5. City Light = 194
   
6. Side Marker = 194 (CANBUS REQUIRED)
7. Fog Light = 9006 (pic coming soon)

Tail Light: (Models: S, SE, SEL, TDI, GLI)

1. Outer Running / Brake = 1157 (CANBUS MAYBE REQUIRED/POWER LEAK)
   
2. Turn Signal = 1156 (NO REPLACEMENT AT THE MOMENT)
3. Inner Running = BA15s (R5W)
   
4. Reverse = 1156 (POWER LEAK)
5. License Plate Tag = 194
6. Deck Brake = Factory LED

***You will need a Flat Head Screwdriver and Pry Bar.

***You will need a Plastic Pry Bar (Harbor Fright), DO NOT USE A FLAT SCREWDRIVER, you will damage the plastic.

Okay, how do I get the glove box casing open to replace the bulb?

Removing it is fairly easy, but short of using an excessive amount of force, how do I get that open to replace the bulb???

NOW RUN OUT AND TEST THE BULB BEFORE PUTTING THE METAL COVER BACK ON.
THE LED BULB MAY NEED TO BE FLIPPED AROUND.

SLIDE COVER BACK OVER AND YOUR DONE.

Fantastic work.....

what im hoping you will do, along with other contributors is get a good consensus of which LED bulbs to use.....After reading the 102 issues with so many dying out within a day I really want to be sure i get a good quality bulb.

AVOID 102 SMD LED 1156 Bulbs!

I have been using 68 SMD LED 1156 for a few months with no problems.

I bought mine from a place called "vision-technology" on Ebay. They are in Cali, the bulbs are still Chinese, but 2 day shipping and they stand behind their bulbs.

Osram/Sylvania 7507 is also PY21W

you can get the Diadem/Silverstar PY21W/7507 as well as Philips Silvervision PY21W, or a few light coats of silver spray paint to clear out the turn signals

the 1156 bulb is a BA15S base also.

it could be a R5W or R10W, as they also use a BA15S base for the inner trunk light

It is R5W and the opening on the tail light housing is only .88 inches wide , and very shallow. I will post up more pics explaining this.

The inner tail: the top bulb is for the rear fog. The housing for the us/Canada doesn't have the opening.... The "tab arrow" blocks the bulb type.....

This is correct. The bulb for that socket though in case anyone cares is P21W (aka) 1156.

I'm not sure yet. See the problem is that if you install LEDs into the blinkers the dash blinks fast, setting off the bulb error light. However, there is no hyper blink on the exterior of the car, just the dash. So my idea is to figure out where the blinker relays are and swap those for LED relays. If the bulb error returns then I will know for sure that the bulbs need to be CANBUS.

So far the only confirmed CANBUS necessary bulbs on the Mk6 Jetta, is the front 194 (amber) side markers.

JB, interior lights, are they 38festoone or 39mm festoone, i cant find any 38mm, they are either 36mm or 39mm. I know there is not much diff, but can you please check and get back to me.

Whoops. I used 39mm. (checked receipt)

I will have to update those pictures.


***Sry guys. Interior Festoons should be 39mm. 36mm will work but you will have to bend in the contacts on the bulb holder.

Thanks so much for this! Had already done my DRL's but they were from Metapark/Ebay and conked out in a couple of days. Waiting for some more from a different seller.

Using your guide, did the rear map lights which were a breeze (yes, 39 was perfect). The front map lights were harder to remove but a light touch with needle-nose pliers did the trick.

Also, I asked @ both Lowes and Home Depot about a plastic pry bar; they'd never heard of them. Must have been an auto parts shop kinda purchase. Either way, a plastic take-out butter knife worked great and didn't scratch a thing.
