thanks a lot. very good documentation

I can pull motors out, transmissions, and rear ends but I start replacing my city light and DRLs with LED and now nothing works to include my headlights. My DRL bulbs were out before and no bulb out on dash now after installing the LED its on. I'm about to bash the lights with a baseball bat! Grrrr

  3. 10-06-2012 04:10 PM #878
hey JB i just ordered the same bulbs you just put in from ebay, are they difficult to put in and will these lights damage the headlight cover and/or void my warranty, easiest way to install them?

  4. 10-06-2012 04:14 PM #879
hey guys all i did was order bulbs, are these goin to fit into the original housings or do i need to replace all the wiring as well? thanks all

  5. 10-06-2012 04:43 PM #880

Has anybody done the city lights?? Can't get these out to replace with LEDs. Please help!

  6. 10-06-2012 09:03 PM #881
Yes I just did it. Pull it out of the housing and pull the bulb. Take the other bulb and install it. It can only go one way so be ready to pull it back out and flip it. If you have the city light conversion from ECS pull the bulb out of the harness. You're not gonna use it.

    Cool, thanks!

Ok so I am planning on replacing the stock headlight bulbs and need further clarification. I read that it is a H7 bulb but what I was told was that it was a H7(55)? Is there a difference or will a SilverStar H7 work fine as plug n play? Also while examining the headlight housing it appears we have separate bulbs for low/high? Are they both H7's? Do I need a total of 4 bulbs?

    Gracias Amigos

You'll be fine, as long as its h7 55. Both high and lows are the same bulb. I just changed my lows to osram cool blue hyper and my highs to osram night breaker plus.

I just installed LED lights in my 2012 Jetta TDI. I am getting a warning light on the dash (light bulb symbol) . All the lights work except the front and rear passenger overhead lights. They work if you manually turn them on but when opening the door(s) they are barely on. When I shut the door they stay on but are very dim. To shut them off I have to turn both front and back switches to the off position. Any ideas ?
    Thanks !

this seems to be a common problem...

i believe it is to be remedied(sp) by either using canbus leds or installing a resistor.

Do any of the bulbs have built in resistors ? Rather than the separate installation of a resistor.

Since all the images at the beginning of this thread are gone now, does anyone have any instructions/how-to on getting to the bulb in the back? I"m ready to start tackling the tail lights, but don't want to break something while trying to remove the large plastic cover in the trunk.

I am still unsure in getting the bulbs from ebay. Is there an official website that I can ask them about the bulbs?
