don't have to take out the whole headlight assembly! you can simply do it in the engine bay.

don't need any tools of any kind but your hands. you need some strong fingers to twist it out.

Read the manual. There's a page in there that shows where every light is (dont have the book with me). It is indeed a PITA. Getting it out is the easy part. Now putting it back in...thats a different story.

just take the front bumper off

there are 5 torx screws on each side inner fenderwell, and 2 in the middle, underneath the grille. (4 screws and pull grille out and away)

then you can take the headlight out, and change it much easier.

/at least that was easier for me.

I did it thanks to a lady friend with smaller hands

I have a problem with the interior map lights now, i have removed the plastic covet but the silver cover underneath that prevents me from accessing the bulb

how do i remove that ?

theres caps there that you can remove. once you remove them. stick ur hand inthere and feel for the bulbs. turn the bulb case counterclockwise and pull it out . itll be hard to reach. i cut my hand numerous times. try it

    Hey Guys!
This might sound like a stupid question, but I am a new VW owner. I really like the look of the LED lights and was wondering if I have the normal turn signals and all other lights, would I need to buy a special light kit to put the LEDs in my car? or is it a Bulb with an adapter piece.
Again sorry for the somewhat stupid question and Thanks in advance

To not have the Bulb MIL error come on, you'll need VAG coding.

if you don't care about the Bulb MIL error, go ahead and install all the LED's you want.

How would I go along doing the VAG coding?
and what LED's would you suggest?

Looking forward to the HID retrofit write up, curious how you got around the Jetta specific bulb plug and got it to mount, wired, etc. I have a DDM kit that i took out of my MKV i'd love to get put into my MKVI

Jb, thanks for getting this list started. There have been numerous changes and additions to the original list. Would you mind posting another draft of the original, listing all of the vehicle bulb types and your suggestion as to which brightness/led arrangement bulb to use in each application?

Also, if you know of a similar listing for the JSW, please let us all in on that too. Thanks again!!!

why would people want to change the taillight bulbs? or is it just in case one goes out?

Did anyone tell you to buy the ones from ECS? NO. The cheep ones on ebay that arent canbus work just fine, just as everyone else has reported in the thread and at a cost of about $2. So congrats on paying $5 a piece.
