Any VWs made after 92 are usually only good for drive train donors.

143whp is great considering there is not much more than stock there...

My friend has a real abf and made 143.5whp so im pretty please with it. i did however make 5lb more torque then he did. I may get some bigger cams down the road and eventually do up a head.

I have seen a stocker put down 154whp, and that was on megasquirt with a TT Race header and 2.5" exhaust, so you are damn close.

I'm making an abf clone for my mk2 also so i like seeing those numbers

Well that's good to hear . ya a lot of the abf parts like the breather and hoses you can get new from vw of Germany still. we had a guy that is stationed over there ship a few things this way. I found intake, fuel rail, and tb in the classifieds CHEAP. The new stuff is not cheap but if you are going to do it do it right.

ill have a stock 42mm intake for a bit, unless i can source an abf unit cheap. Also ill have megasquirt and 2.25 exhaust with stock exhaust mani/dp. Cams with be stock 9a with a exhaust cam swapped for intake. Going super cheap way so we'll see how she does. If i ended up any where near the 140whp range i would be stoked

I drag raced my jetta at the VW Bug Run today in Woodburn Or. My best time was 15.75. I was hoping for a 15.3 or so but it was my first time racing and I have a wide ratio trans.

I went head to head with my friend Randy from TT who has a real ABF in his mk2. I was surprised when i ended up being a tenth second faster then him. I was pretty happy about that

Over the winter I am going to try to build a 9A up for it. I had one in there for awhile when I had the 2.slow and loved it until it blew up. I'd like to do some sort of LSD and a wide 5th since it is my daily driver (when its not in pieces).

Something else I would like to do over the winter is find a 93' passat head and build it. They have the same casting and part number as the ABF head. I would do full port and polish, over-sized valves and bigger cams.

If you have any questions about my engine feel free to ask.

on a stock engine, no difference

on a high compression huge cam engine you could make a large increase with tuning. Since with itb's you can change runner length to tune the power band and there is no intake restrictions either

I changed my trans out on Thursday night after work for the closer ratio 9A. I had the ACH trans in which is the widest ratio trans i believe. I was hoping that would get me closer to the 15.2 quarter mile mark that I was trying to reach. I got the trans swapped in 3 hours, which is my personal best not using air tools, and went to change the fluid and what do you know, i take the drain plug out and there is was appears to be the head of a rivet sitting on top of the drain plug. I guess I wont be doing any racing with this trans. the good news is i found a 9A for $50 that will be gone thru and getting a bolt kit and tall 5th.

I took a little road trip this weekend and decided it was time to find out what the MPG would be. I was thinking it would get around 26-27 MPG. I was very surprised when i got back and filled up again that it was getting 31 MPG. the trip was only 150 miles and mostly highway but I was still very please.

I was wondering what it would get if I still had the tall 5th gear in there. Any thoughts(guesses)?

Well I hit the 1000 mile mark on my engine today. No engine problems what so ever which I am very pleased about!!

I found some more pictures from the Bug Run that i raced at...

That black gti has an 8V and a LSD and ran 15.2 in the 1/4 mile. I was pretty surprised.
