I definitely hang with the Bears. Not one myself, but that's the type of guy I go for, and there's SO much more than just the body type. It's all about 'different strokes for different folks'... the Bears (and guys they're into / are into them) like to stick with each other. Not hard to come out, my parents knew long before I told them. My mom's sister and bro know. I never told my grandparents, I knew they'd be disappointed and it really didn't matter. One of my great-aunts decided to have a discussion with her sister's and mom's mom about my sexuality. I heard about this after the fact from my mom's sister. It was hilarious. I did tell my parents and they just said, "we know."

I had one guy try to **** with me in NYC when I was walking home from a friend's apt. He was drunk (or high) and came up behind me and started harassing me and starting grabbing me. and threw me into a parked car. I promptly kick the side of his knee and blew it out, then ran off and got in a cab. That was the only time in 8 years I had someone attempt something because they thought I was gay. I was mugged once, but the crackhead didn't mention anything about me being gay.

As for discrimination, not really, or not to my knowledge. As a kid I got picked on, but I'd call that bulling, not hatred, because the kids that picked on me in junior high were my friend by the end of high school. Amazing what making the varsity soccer team does for popularity.

I'm quite a direct (some say argumentative) person. Confrontation doesn't bother me at all, and if I need to go there with someone if I felt I was the subject of either, so be it.
