I'm a new vw owner...I just bought a 2004 golf 2.0 a month or so ago. After using search and reading up a lot on common issues with the MKIV models, I want to replace the timing belt/water pump, and probably the camshaft/crank seals while I'm at it, to stave off disaster. I'm not sure if its been replaced before and i'm at 68k, so I'm just going to do it for peace of mind.

I was looking at the kits on blau parts, I was just curious if anyone has used them before? Are they helpful? Instructions/tool kits make the job any easier?

I'm moderately mechanically inclined, I just don't have a load of experience. Any feedback would be great!

    (oh yeah..and i've replaced the cluster...thermostat..a few sensors..already. welcome to VW I guess )

your best bet, get to know the site, it is endlessly useful.

As far as tools, make sure you have a bottle of whiteout, or something similar to mark the timing and transfer marks to the new belt.

Don't bother with the camshaft/crank seals unless they are actually a problem. The 2.0 is a beast, so you will likely not have many issues.
Kudos to you for wanting to take care of this ahead of time.

very cool, thanks for the resources. $200 here is better than well, way more $$ than that later.
