Installed my 75a Red mount yesterday and OMG, what an amazing upgrade! It for sure vibrates down low and is a little harsher, but I quickly got used to it and it doesn't really bother me anymore.
Everything feels much more connected with the drive train, shifts feel more precise and more solid. I had a hard time getting it into 1st to 2nd when taking it up above 6K, not anymore, shifting feels much more effortless. Love it!
This also might a placebo effect, but I did some quick lane changes at speed (on a closed road with no other cars or traffic) and I swear to god, it feels like it reduces body roll and doesn't seem to throw the engine causing it to transfer weight in the wrong direction making the car feel unstable. Just feels more hunkered down.
I wish I would have done this upgrade to my GTI when I had it!
Hope this helps some to decide which mount to get.
When I bought the 80 mount the 75 wasn't available yet.
I went from the 80 to the 75 mount due to vibrations and the difference is like night and day.
I would recommend the 75 for lightly modded daily driven cars. Very slight vibrations and still major difference from stock while shifting. More precise smoother shifting just like the 80 mount but with way less cabin vibrations.
Had this badboy installed today. A no brainer mod. Another best bang for your buck from HPA aside from their short shifter of course . Slight more NVH, but barely noticeable. Only when slowing down/ speed up from a stop. Shifts are crisper, smoother acceleration going through the gears. Softest durometer (75A)
For those of you that are considering this mod but was worried about the vibration it might bring, don't be. I'm super ana! about ride comfort and I approve of this mod. I went from having all 3 VF mounts in my mk4 so I know how bad vibrations can be but after putting this HPA mount in the R there has been no difference in cabin vibration.
Maybe I'm so used to how bad my mk4 was, the only time I kinda felt any vibration was at initial startup and at extremely low rpms but even then it was nothing at all. It definitely helps to reduce the sloppiness that some here have referred to.
I'm gonna see if it passes the gf test later on.
...All I can say is WOW!! What a difference a little round piece of poly makes! Car just feels so much crisper. The slight jerkyness leaving from a stop is gone and acceleration and shifts are so much smoother. Thanks!
You guys want another test for the mount? Do this... before installing it, head to an empty wide paved road with no other vehicles or pedestrians, take the car to about 40 to 50 mph. Lane change as fast as possible. Feel the engine as it bucks and unsettles the car. Put in the mount, do the same test.... and feel how much more the car feels planted.
