Sorry if there is another thread for this.

If I go through with a Sportwagen purchase, I will need to get a rooftop box immediately for family trips. We can't fit the kids in car seats, 50lb dog, AND all our luggage in it. Not sure if I will get a sunroof yet or not, but my wife wants it. The car would be white, and I'd prefer a plain all white or all black box.

It looks like the Whispbars from Prorack are well liked?

Thule or Yakima boxes? I like this Yakima Skybox.

      Love this:

Post pictures and info about your setup. Thanks!

Only thing you have to be aware of is the clearance for the pano roof if you have one. Lots of posts on the Whispbars not offering enough room for the pano roof to open when bars and attachments installed. IIRC it all depends on how far forward you mount the bars. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The whispbars come in two flavours, the flush ones you linked, and a set that are a bit higher up intended for cars with sunroofs.

Some people say the flush ones will clear, and some say they won't. I would get them and just keep the sunroof closed when they're attached.

The whispbars are nice... I don't have them but a friend does... I do have the Yakima Skybox 16s though, it is AWESOME. I was set on a Thule but once I saw this it was no contest. I don't have a pic of it on my JSW cause it hasn't been on there yet... We've used it a bunch on our Volvo XC70 and it is really a terrific box.

      Let's see some white boxes!!

I want to get whisper bars but I can't justify the extra 150 fir crossbars.
I'm going with Yakima bars. They are like 250 total
I'm going to try out the new windjammer instead of using a fairing
I do want to be able to open my pano

I didn't see one. I was hoping people would post up their racks and boxes here to get one started. There's one at TDIclub, but there aren't many pictures in it.

Very glad to hear about the Skybox. I really like the simplicity of that one. How much luggage can you fit in there? Will I need to set up a pulley system in my garage to store it?

I will just need to decide about the bars. Does VW make any? I don't plan to keep them on all the time if they are easy to mount, and I'll live if I can't open the sunroof (if we get it).
