Here is a quick pic as it goes back to black!

Decided to continue adding more stuff on the cluster, adding LEDs for the alarm and a few accessories, hopefully it will look cool and oem-ish!

Working on a few more updates to the cluster before it's all over.

Decided I would give this a try

Since it reminds me of my A4 cluster

And since I am at it I decided to pull the trigger on this

So I can install it while the dash is apart etc, and I can get a baseline A/F stock and watch/ tune as I upgrade the intake cams....all the way eventually to standalone.

Picked ip my TT handbrake from the machine shop with the new pin mod etc, I had to flip it and bring it out to the side so it can push on the scirocco cables from behind, since the TT hand brake is off center, and if I want to keep the or handbrake bracket I will bolt this in right behind it.. I'll let the pics tell the story...

One with the console test fit for general alignment.

You can see the shifter is not centered in the console hole, but I intend on bending it back and up, I believe this will make for a better driving position as well as line it up with the console.

Going to try and get the dials made to look like this

    And light up like this

So I have a week off next week so hopefully I'll make some good progress

Not hating it, being a child of the '80s

Just a bit of an excuse on.a few bad fashion/ style choices for the car!!

But all that is being fixed now!

Car won't be out before may/ June, roads and such around here are prety bad until then anyways

As we continue the cluster-fest, just got done with the indicator led mod.

Was a bit stressful since this is my only cluster (for now), and I do not have a lot of room for error!

So drilled out the hole for the led

The drilled out the filler part with the "fake" LEDs

Then once done put the LEDs in and test fit the filler, had to grove the tiny holes to accept the led bulb shoulder by hand so it will all snap back
In later once the dial faces arrive.

    As it sits now

So now any accessories I add that need an indicator led will light up in the dash! Even the alarm led.... Oem+...... yeay!

I already had a override switch and led for the cooling fan to kmow when it turns on and also to run it manually, 'cause we all
Know how reliable the fan switches are!

    Back to work!

Ok so I just finished mocking up the handbrake mod.
Used a timing belt roller from an a4 to help the rod along, made a new bracket for the cables to rod hookup, and added a Coper pipe temp to keep the threade rod from bending under the strain.

I'll get some proper supplied tomorrow, and refine my brackets once I weld in all the studs to bolt down the e brake to the car.

    Test fit with console #2

Looks like it just may work!

Still need to make sure it is binding the brakes 100% and letting go 100%.

Then mod the shifter, but enough for tonight.

Small update as I work away!

Picked up some jewelry for the old girl!

    Old vs new

    How it was originally

Now, staying true to the TT roadster-ish feel, I had this machined by my new machine shop buddy. Yes I just may put his kids thru school.

    The final result

This will add some cool and help clear the center console!!

Also got the back seat apart and sent out the covers to Tim at velocity upholstery to get them made to match the fronts, can't wait to see it all come together.

I'm working on a few more bits and parts to get this interior poping, all in the details....

    Yeay! Now back to work!

Thanks! Slow but steady.... I am trying to no compromise on any detail as much as possible. The car is like a big scale model toy car for me, so I do not mind spending time on details..... And it let's my wallet relax a bit.

I agree, I'm going to try and get some more on the dash done this weekend, I will finally have some free time and a helping hand, and if I get it done tomorrow I'm going to get the supplies to re-wrap it

Well there were 2, now there is only one!

I needed to fill a gap in the rear bottom section of the console, so I decided to sit one on top of the other and carve out the center part and glued them together. By doing this I gave it some strength in case someone were to put their weight onto it.

The blue section I plan on carpeting.

Then I began to make a few brackets to begin to solidify thing a little.

Tomorrow I will finish some epoxy it still needs, and scuff and paint it trim black to freshen it up some.

    Almost there!!!

    Can't wait for summer...

Did some final fitting of odd and ends, reinforced it, painted it, may still give another finish coat later once I install it for good.

still want to add carpet at the bottom.

And one more in car shot, this time all black!

Waiting on the machine shop for my handbrake parts.
I got my new innovate a/f gauge

Now on to the side panels and door panels, so I can mod them and ship them Out to get recovered!

Heads up Tim, they are headed your way soon....

When you make one or a few sets for me and ship it to germany...how much will it cost?

I think some other guys here in germany will have much fun with this good stuff too...

Or do you have a DIY intruction for me? How do you get the foils transparent for the lights shining trough? Is this any special foil/paper or what is it?

what are you doing for needles? I used to make gauge faces for the corrados the only option i ran into for needles was to paint them florescent orange or a day glo color and use a black light led.

making the needles glow by light was a pia if the gauge cluster was not built for it. most needles that light up have a light source at the center then the circle is painted black at the base to hide that light and the needle is clear plastic
