...caddy rear 4 link . I'm making one, but if anyone else wants to have a first to the moon race I accept. I want it to look stock on outside, meaning no holes in the bed

Including the coolant hard pipe that runs from the waterpump to the heater core but without the port for the overflow bottle.

Maybe add in coolant sensor bungs to that pipe somewhere down low for people that like clean bays.

I see all as great ideas, I would like to see a clip on or bolt on raintray cover. and a spare tire carrier or holder for the rabbit pickup. the under bed ones seem to be made out of unobtainium.

keep up the great thread and hopefully the parts will soon follow.

Being that this thread is centered around new ideas, you have a better recommendation? And no... raising the car is not an option.

I find it funny that folks wont trust a M14 12.9 grade bolt and a 3/4" piece of DOM but they are more that content with binding up the inner tie rod end which measures less than 10mm.

nope, and I don't claim to. a tie rod flip kit is sufficient for my needs.

It's not the quality of the materials that is of concern, what you have basically created is a second class lever, which will create a serious increase in force that the tie rod now has on the mounting point on the spindle....which is all a fancy way of saying...I wouldn't drive it.

Understood. I guess I feel the strain on that section of inner tie rod (measures 9.79mm) is far worse than my "second class lever"

The inner tie rod sees pure compression and tensile loads, something steel is very good at without fatiguing.

Your outer arrangement has the bolt seeing purely bending loads, all concentrating at the mounting point, something steel is less good at.

I have the same concern with the control arm. The way it was originally designed, it takes mainly compression and tensile loads as lateral G's are applied. The way it is now, it endures mainly bending forces as lateral G's are applied.

If it works, it works, but it looks concerning to me. Kudos for trying to come up with something, no disrespect intended

Terry, your point is not solid. Both of those pieces are taking load in a very, very different way. I KNOW you know the difference, so I'm not even going to bother typing it up.

But no seriously something bent more back toward the driver would be good for a shifter in these cars.

Didn't think about the air cooled bits. But I have been keeping my eyes peeled for a rocco in the yards for a while to steal the shifter out of.

I think replacement motor mount brackets that have options such as poly, solids, newer mounts, etc. for most variations would be cool. I'm talking modular, easy swap stuff, that could driven to an event soft, changed in minutes and become full performance. Always wanted to experiment with this.
