Went to this event the past two Saturdays. While not an official CnC, it's not bad. However, in the Battle of CnC's, Irvine utterly rocks this one.

It seems that many of these cars show up week after week, which negates any uniqueness they bring. After a while, a bunch of E92 M3's and 360 Modena's just aren't interesting to shoot.

Anyway, let my crappy photos do the talking.

Sad that the cars that interest me most are the 2002, the Jag, and the notchback. I want to know what that Notch has stuffed in its bum...big wheels, serious seats, monkey bars in place of the back seat all spell beefy powerplant.

I like the notchback, is that a wing on the back?

Well of course it doesn't hold a candle to the Irvine one, what do you expect? It's pretty damn good for what it is.

Oh, and I LOVE that Javelin.

    Numbersix - that brown R8 isn't Ekaru's - his is black.

what model is this? I know ive seen it before, but there is only so much i can remember. I find it unbearably pretty. Gives me a distinctive 612 Scagliette(sp?) vibe. I believe i am now in love.

Went out there last week with my truck. Completely unimpressed with a couple of things. One, the number of obnoxious Harleys there doing what Harley riders do, revving their bikes that sound broken to keep them from dying. They did it right in the middle of the show while everyone was trying to have discussions. Kills the environment and is just annoying. Two, the ridiculous Gallardo owners needlessly revving their engines as they left the lot and then ringing out their motors pulling out of the parking lot and down the 100 yards to the stop light. It wasnt just them but they definitely made a big show of it (the owner of the yellow one leading the way). Thats how shows die because of cops. Its funny because these are the same people who were driving 15 mph below the posted speed limit in the twisty roads. Then there was the two lower twenty year olds encouraging the people to drive reckless and cause a scene so they could record it (and probably pad their YouTube channel with more garbage).

The Harley riders are unavoidable as they need to rev them to keep their bikes from dying but the driving like idiots has to stop. There are no cops at the show because its a respectable gathering. The more people drive like idiots, the higher the odds that people will stop coming because the cops have started.
You think you hate it now. Wait til you drive it.

That's a shame - I've gone to a bunch of them in the last year, and I've never seen the Harley group. (Haven't been to one in since March, however.)

Same here, thats why it sucked so bad. I think it might become a victim of its success.

If it'll be anything like Irvine, the cops will be fine with the noise but there won't be any peeling out of any sort.

Not that there's any room for it with that light right outside the parking lot.

Thats what I thought but the Gallardos, 911s and Benz that were in front of me would beg to differ. They tore out of that lot like they were seeing green on the 1/4 mile. Didnt help that there were two toolbags standing there egging everyone on. I was annoyed at best and then laughed as the same ones that tore out of there were driving 15 under the limit on the twisties where you would think theyd actually be interested in going quicker.

My point was that there is no need for cops at all and that is perfect. The show is respectable and free of hoodlums. No need for police at all.

On a side note, I love walking along and hearing the statements being made. There was a Bugeye with an oil cooler. One guy was staring at it wondering why a car like that would require a/c. Hilarious.

I go about once a month and have a ton of pics. I focus mainly on the vintage stuff, though. I've never seen a Harley group there, or at least noticed any being obnoxious. I never stay until the end, though.

Saying the Great Falls show is no Irvine is a little irrelevant; it's not like you can choose one over the other. it's still a huge group of unique cars and cool people.

Those brown R8s are both V10s - one is a six-speed manual with dark brown leather; the other is an R Tronic with beige leather. I'd take the former.

I've never seen "the Harley guys" - hell, I've never even seen a Harley at the show. Last week must have just been a Harley club that happened to roll through the area.

I took some shots today, will post them up later. I've got some from a couple weeks ago too that I should get up... Btw, you got a pretty good shot of me in there.

WRX motor. Its really well done. If you look through the back window in the pic you can see the trunk mounted hood scoop that feeds the intercooler. I'm not a fan of the look he's given the car but its still pretty impressive.

Hmmm first time I've heard of the Harley guys rolling through pulling a stunt like that. Same goes for the Lambo people. Sometimes there's a cop sitting at the bank waiting for a stunt like that. Sounds like yesterday was the exception rather than the norm at least in my experience.

Memorial Day there were a TON of cars and some extremely unique ones at that. The thing that's getting me is that all the newer cars are taking up the prime spots and that is really ticking me off. I honestly could care less about a new M3, Ferrari, etc. The old stuff is what makes the GTG and those guys are getting driven out by the "new money" that thinks people want to see their big wheeled yuppie/poser mobiles.

I still enjoy going, don't get me wrong. I love rumbling through the crowd in the Rabbit and people scratching their heads. The funny thing is that the Rabbit gets more "respect" at this GTG than it does at VW ones. You gotta laugh at that one. Go figure.

    Nice pics.

That doesn't suprise me at all - aside from some of the look at me lambo types, there are some really good 'car guys' that show up there.

Agreed to an extent, but I don't know if the old stuff is getting driven out... they're just not getting the prime spots. Fortunately the nouveau riche types usually get bored of things pretty quickly.

Wow, I show up in a suprising number of other people's photos

As promised here's mine. The first few (through the brown R8 V10 Spyder) are from June 4; the later ones are from yesterday. I used to try to shoot everything but now I usually just shoot the stuff that hasn't showed up before (or in the case of the white E30 M3/F40/etc., regular stuff that I still think is cool).
