I vote for NA build (port/polish, knife edge crank, blueprint, etc) and call it Lambetta.

    This is good stuff!

if i were to stay NA i would do a couple of things:
-11.5:1 or even 12:1 pistons (drop in bore)
    -custom stainless quad tipped exhaust
    -water/meth injection
    -custom software
    - balanced crank
    -possibly a port and polish
    -Cams (if possible as well)
-stage 2 ferrea valvetrain (rev it safely to 7500 rpm)
    -Intake manifold

and a couple of mods on the current stuff, such as re pipe the exhaust, do a thermal coat on the entire exhaust system, headers out, then a thermal wrap (to keep 90% or more of the heat away from the engine bay and from the car)

the only reason for me to NOT do an NA build, would be support. I need a SW company to make me the files to my specs... or else go Standalone... but thats not something i'm looking forward to... if i dont need to.
If needed, i'd go piggy back with an 034 system, and learn how to do my own tuning... i think i can get a dyno for a day for cheap, or i could also go to a friend with a dynapack for "cheap"...

    with time i'll know more.

right now, i'm enjoying what i have, i'm looking for quotes on an LSD, and researching more on sound deadening to finish with the audio build.

At the moment, 2 jl amps and focal speakers: 3 ways on the front with their own crossovers, 2 ways on the rear doors (with individual crossovers) and a sub on the trunk. the head unit is NOW outputting to 4 different channels via monster's THX rated RCAs, and each crossover is individually wired with oxigen free 12 AWG, and the wires were soldered to the speakers for better output. so right now, the output is CLEAR as it can be... never i had i heard or enjoyed such sound clarity and delivery.
so to have a better sound, all i need now is to Sound deadened the car.

I'll start by doing the trunk, under the rear seats and the door skins. if needed, i'll do the floor.

    pics and DIY (ish)

so, while i wait for the intake mani, and other mods to be released (money is being saved to be able to afford the moment it comes out) i'll focus on the sound.

after all, right now is like the for about 6 days a week:

ohh, and lastly, i'm prepping a video... i think this will be the song..

well... long school day today... and i have been looking at tire options...

    what do you guys think:

    -225/ 40/ 18

    - 225/ 45/ 18

    - 235/40/ 18

    - 235/45/ 18

235s are good for better traction, not that i'm pushing 500whp, but i just want better traction than 225s while still maintaining some "stock" size in order to no loose many MPGs

also, why 45 sidewalls are considered? based on what i have read around, a 45 sidewall is more of a "sporty" than a thin one, and on top of that it helps transmit power "better" to the ground...

    what do you guys think?

does not matter what u do ur not gonna get traction with low pro tires, and if u do they are gonna be really sticky and not last long, u want better traction get more sidewall

I believe the R32 one is 90 durometer. I've got one in my R32 and I love it. So worth it.

Nice car. Heard good things about your build threads. I'll have to read thru this thread more closely. Hope you don't mind some PM's...asking some questions about parts.

It was Volkswagen of Hartford. Iight nice, I'll PM some questions when I get a chance. Nothing to serious or complicated you'll prolly laugh when you read them. I don't think I'll be doing anything as advanced as you.

yours isn't leaking. that's the vapor that comes through the filter. that's the exact reason i wanted ours out of the bay. puts an oil film on everything and puddles underneath!

our new setup is routed into the downpipe, just past the cat. it's called a crankcase evacuation system.

you need a pipe nipple from jegs/summit, a check valve (some don't use this), and weld it in at a 45 degree angle.

    [quote author=Zach link=topic=28358.msg535627#msg535627 date=1302106945]
A hole is drilled in the exhaust and the nipple is welded in at a 45 degree angle. The open end of the nipple and the slashcut are inside the exhaust. The slash cut faces upstream. Exhaust flows into the slashcut and out the open end of the nipple, creating a vacuum in the hose and crankcase. Adequate vacuum on crankcase slows acidity buildup in oil and helps seal piston rings.

total of $30 and it works better than a catch can.

    update!

on tuesday i got my ECU!

got the tools ready for the ECU re-install

after driving 150miles on a rented car, i was finally reunited with my beloved.

well, ecu installed... the car now KNOWS its a manual. no more cels, or dash lights. even lesser rev hang... its good!

finally back into Gainesville, the hometown. and after over a month of no wash, well.. it was the least i could do.

and i saw this on the way home!

yep. cel is gone...! like i said on the other thread, the plans are simple: LSD, pistons, turbo and all the related parts, and thats will probably be it for next year as well...
