lookie, lookie at what i got??

special thanks to the 2.5 Forum sponsor:

    INA Engineering

not only did they answer my question, but they know, understand and what to help me with my project... great people!

    recommend em blindly.

now, i'm only missing the pistons to start the real build... but i have to decide on the NA vs FI thing... lol. cause Naturally aspirated = high comp pistons (11:1) and FI will be lower comp pistons (8.5 or 9:1)... i'll choose whn the time comes.

    Ok, so updates?

I have the amp, its a JL J2 250.1 and that's going to be dedicated to the sub, which is going to be a focal 25 A1, nominal power 200w, and max of 400W.

The amp was sourced locally from a friend who parted the car, the sub I ordered today from amazon, and it should be here on friday.

On thursday I should be receiving the sub enclosure by nik (ubber stealth audio)...

Also, I ordered 100 ft of 12 AWG wire to re do the entire cables, and not use the factory stuff... I also got 4AWG wire for the amp-batter) and ground connections.... Additionally I ordered a sub woffer cable (monster) and 2 monster RCA 25' cables for the conections between the head unit and the amp (speakers).

Well... Looks like tomorrow I'll be wrapping the exhaust in thermal wrap, and I'll do an oil change and tire rotation... And on thursday or friday I'll be re-doing all the wires of the sound system, and I'll install the sub+amp.

Let's hope for a good week.

Love the thread! Great build, you are an inspiration to all of us 2.5ers!

How do you like the WALK kit? I love mine Do you have only the anti-caster arms, or have you done the bushings (front control arm, rear trailing arm) bushings too?

Thanks for the compiments! I do love the engine... Its greyt.

The walk kit? I only have the front control arms... But add to that a perfectly corner balanced car, with front and rear sway bars, a rear stress, and the endlinks, oh and h r coilovers.... The car turns amazing...
And the walk kit improves it by a lot. For anyone that wants to improve cornering on an MKV, the battery relocation+ coils+walk kit are a must... The car feels a lot sportier too.

On other news, I was just told by amazon that the sub just shipped! So, its all looking for gor friday..

Does the battery relocation play a huge difference? The WALK kit is amazing! I'm on B&G coils and I've found that in 2nd gear corners I can carry ~5mph more and in 3rd gear corners I can carry 10-15mph more and that was on stock steel wheels too You should get the trailing arm bushings.. they are cheap and easy to install!

with the battery relocation, you help the car to be more balanced.

from factory our cars have 65% of the weight on the front... so yes, the batter relocation helps a LOT... and you do feel the difference. i dont know the diff in speed in comparison to stock, but i'm far from it.

even thou we have FWD cars, they can be built and upgraded to be fun little daily machines.

    ok, so update!
its been a while, and i have been working on the car extensively, with no rest, no time for forums, nor updates... hell, i lost +7lbs jjust sweating while working.

this is how my sound WAS... 3 months away.

diagrams for the new wiring for the new audio

    random... new keychain!

continuiing with the pics and story.

    doing an oil change,

    raise the car.

then use a torx t25 to remove the bottom cover to access and do a proper oil change.

then remove re 19mm plug from the oil pan

prepare the cointainers to hold the oil.

    draining the oil.

    locate the filter....

drain the filter.... tools from metalnerd.com

    old and dirty filter.

    new oil, filter and plug.

after all the oil drains out, plug it with the new plug

once i finished with the oil change, i proceded to wrap the exhaust...

this is what i found... that's awe quality... 2nd time..

this is what happened and where it broke

then i got bored...so i washed the engine bay...

lastly, remember to rotate the wheels.

torque em back to 89lbs and rememvber to check it again after 100 miles.
    ....

    then its audio install time.
this is the first part acquired for the audio install...

    jl amp for the sub

all cables recieved... time to start the build.

    focal sub...

    dash taken apart, cables prepped.

all the new cable... good cable for better sound.

    partly back together.

    amps in place.

focal crossover for the front 3 way

how its wired, with the oxigen free 12 awg.

everything apart, to accomodate the new wire.

the door was appart, to be able to do the new wire.

the clip where the wires are ran.

took me 4 hrs, to put it back together... well.. its now working.

    can you see the wires??

interior apart, for the audio build.

    passenger door skin out...

    all back together.

    running the passenger side wires

amped subwofer, in a custom enclosure. it looks OEMish.

well... its all done, and sounding good...

feel free to ask any question.

lol... its been a while, the thing is that i'm ALWAYS dropping some 100 or around it a month... its quite a bit when you sum it all at the end of the day...

the 6 speed? is great! if we ever meet, i'll let you drive. Then i'm sure you are going to love it, and you'll want to get one too!

i didnt get to wrap nothing, cause the thing is broken... so, once it gets replaced, i'll wrap it.

summer is almost over, and i'm almost done with the minor things i've been doing.

this week i decided to finish the sound system...

on tuesday i spent 8 hrs re wiring the j2 250.1 to the battery, and re doing the ground. then i cleaned the g4500 wiring... re did the headunit RCAs cause they were too long, and well... 16ft is more than enough.

then, i re did the subwoffer wires, and it now sounds GOOD... i might need to port it, but that will be done later, if ever.

on tuesday i also did the re wire for the rear door speakers... they are using focal's 165 A1 (2 way) and WOW.

i must say that now that the entire system has been rewired, now that the door skins are back, now that i took apart the entire interior of the car... NOW when i can actually listen to music... i can only say, its hella worth it.

with the AWG 12 oxigen free audio wires and the monster cables, the sound is as clear as can be... no kidding.
i have never heard such a good sound system.. ever.

its perfectably clear at ANY sound volume, and with the amps, you can make some GOOD music LOUD. let me put it this way, with 50% of the power, the car is already LOUD on the inside, and the rear view mirror MOVES!... oh, the subwoffer is as it should, no bass boost or nothing.

will i ever re wire a car? i dont think so. its WAY too much work, and well... you'd have to pay good money for anyone to do it for you... again, its well worth it.
for comparison: my dad's 2011 panamera came with a BOSE system, and my mom's 2011 GL450 mercedes dont sound nearly as good, and i mean NOWHERE near as good, as loud, as clear, etc.

next step in the sound dept? i have to remove the door skin again, and put on some good sound deadening... that will be done once i have the time and money to do so.

as always, pics will be later, and feel free to ask any questions.

    the promised pics.

Focal 25 A1 in a ubber stealth enclosure. btw .8 cubic feet. need to port it (13 3/4 * 3) if possible.

this is how the trunk looks... yes, i ended up cutting some of the monster mat cause i was all effed up with the wires and all that... and i zip tied all wires along the rear stress bar...doesnt look half bad, imo.

another view... i love it! it looks VERY clean.

sub and battery box... looks OEMish!

and this is a close view when the seats are down...

special thanks in my audio build:

Kylecrish, since he was the one who did his trunk woofer the way i like it. nice clean car.

nik, for his patience with me.

AsymmetricalDichotomy, well, he's the one who did the re wiring first... so i pretty much used his thread as a DIY.

Well.. The enclosure is a bit expensive, no doubt

But it looks good, fitment is on point... So won't complain much...

Nik too, has been super helpful on the before and AFTER the purchase..
