so small updates: still sanding and prepping the intake mani... this thing is going to be SMOOTH!

hopefully the paint comes out all right.

so far, i have sanded a lot with 60, and then 150. a LOT of 150 grid.
then i bought some filler plastic (can withstand up to 600F) and put it on arounf 1545. at about 2300, it was hard enough to sand.

i sanded and left it good and smooth... it still needs more sanding but that will be tomorrow.

tomorrow i actually have to sand, paint, then onto the exterior:
    wash, clay and wax...

i post all the pics at the end.

    ok, so here its all:

i started by cutting the nipples

this is how it looked... like a hack job...

    closer

i said, what the hell... imma just do it "right" or at least presentable! and started covering

by night time, i just had to finish covering and cutting tape!

after running tape, i used a blade to just leave the runners unmasked

sanding time... started with 60, then 150, then 220, then 400

    filler plastic added...

after it was sanded smooth and evenly, i removed the tape and proceeded to wash the mani.

covering again with new tape for a proper paint job with a clean mani.

    more covering

now its time to prep the OR

    first coat of paint.

    second layer

    final layer!

    removing the masking tape

    all removed! oem+

Close up: it aint perfect, but better than how it was (nipples) and you have to be CLOSE to see the impefections... Not bad for a job on the street!

i love the fact that it looks VERY close to OEM... whch means? OEM+!

    Lol, i love my tranny...
At 70 in 6th gear, im at 2750... But a tranny is more than just rpms... This 6 spd at 3200 rpm gives me better mpgs than the auto ever did at 2700... Hell, the auto gave me 22 mpgs at 3000rpms on 6th whike the mt does 28mpgs... Its all about efficiency.

    And thanks on the compliment.
Bte, i just won 1k$!!! So i bought:
This htc sensation (the absolute best phone everrr)
    Star wars on blu ray
    Gopro hero naked+ suction mount
Sound deadening (expect a diy thread upon install)
And a gift to the gf...

Also, next week was the date for the LSD install... But since 1 month ago, wavetrack hant shipped... So if it doesnt get here on or nefore wed, then i'll have to wait till dec or next year... or maybe i'll ask for a moneyback and put the money towrds the turbo... Altho, i realy want the lsd.

what kind of wheels did you have on the car in the stage 2 pics (black a4 wheels?) i love the way they look and have been looking for some. Car looks amazing! makes me want to start tinkering more with mine just doing little upgrades here and there. i eventually want to do a tranny swap to a 6mt. keep it up man!

Lol, its all about the little things here and there... Cuase at a certain point, it all comes down together!!

The wheels were rs6 reps, gloss black paint... Sold them to a fellow club member, mkvi gti tr. Looks good...

My next bunch of little mods are more engine bay wire tucking...
I really dont want to relocate the fuse box... So imma play with everything around it.

I don't like the rpm's i'm at in 5th gear at highway speeds. Great on the performance end, not great on the mpg end. lol I'd like to do the 6spd swap in time, do you think I would have the cel issue though since my is a factory 5spd manual car. What was the harness what all did u have to do to get it to go out

6spd is performance and mpg! awesome tranny.

my CEL WAS (unitronic fixed it for me) because the automatics have a control module for the tranny. and when i removed it, the car was pretty much freaking out... so, no you wouldnt have any issues.

as per the harness, my car has a harness for the automatic tranny, with all the cables for the tranny and control module.
the manuals have a slightly different harness that connects to the clutch, and tranny. a lot simpler

good to know, maybe when my funds are better, i'll get that done, but as my usual with any project, so undecided on so many things lol. Main thing right now, get my ****ing coilovers on, and get a set of wheels and tires that works, was doing the fog a pain?

here are some vids... some are in different angles...

my set up? for all the detailed info, go to my link to the build thread. but what you will see is: my jetta 5 cyl, no hood... all of BSH motor mounts, and hpa puck.

a small description of the vid will be offered. feel free to ask any questions... and no, i have no official relationship with BSH... i only did this cause on the past people have asked me about the motor mounts and the engine movement... i felt this was the only appropiate way to show how "in place" the engine is now.

    regular daily driving

the ever famous 3rd gear revs up to 7k rpm

    going 0 to something...angle 2

going 0 to something angle 1

    dowshifting, angle 2

    downshifting angle 1

reving to 4-5k rpm and going through gears

    0-100

i dont know when will i be able to install it, based on my school schedule... hopefully and maybe before this year ends... or maybe very early 2012... oh well...

this rolls are sound deadening... that i will install myself in thanksgiving break! cant wait

continuiing... had some "holiday vacation time"

starting the "stage 4", which is the install of sound deadening on the trunk floor and under the rear seats

    carpet, seats and amps removed.

starting to measure, cut and lay down

i got a little further, and then i called it quits for the day.

after all, its turky day and turkey time!

    i'll finish tomorrow.

plus, i also need to do a tranny flush...

continuing with the audio build, i kept on putting sound deadening...

the seats were reinstalled, as were the amps. I only have to finish the trunk area to be done! it shall be completed tomorrow...

eventually i'll get to the doors... and in due time (1 year?) i will do the complete floor... i'll just wait till its "necesary"

and then i did a tranny fluid flush!

filler plug, a 10mm hex bit... weird!

only driven 2 miles, and its SMOOTH as butter. i love it!

All i have left for this year is sound deaden, some electrical sturf i wanna do, and hopefully install the lsd.. i just dont think lsd will happen as fast...
