It is also front-loaded, which means any team taking his contract could quickly be paying less than the $5m in cash to him, although it still counting against their salary cap.

I don't pretend to understand how the system works, but it wouldn't surprise me if all the terms got renegotiated anyway if he did get traded.
Pretty sure his cap hit is 5.3 over the next 10 years, but you're right in that he gets most of the money in the next four years or so and then not much at the end. He was paid 10 mil this season. You still take the cap hit but he loses a lot of rights after the next two or three years, like his no-trade goes away and in five years you could probably dump him in the minors to get it off the cap or buy him out.

It's not an easy contract to trade but it's not terrible, either.

Good effort by the Sens and Panthers. Neither were exactly favorites to make it to the second round going into their series, so at least they gave their best in close game 7s.

Crazy that almost all the teams left in the East are from the Atlantic division, but that really was the strongest, most competitive division throughout the season.

4/5 teams made it through to the playoffs. If playoff seeding was based purely on points, the rangers, penguins, flyers, and devils would be the 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th seeds in the east in that order.

edit: just checked, bruins and devils had the same number of points in the regular season.

    FTFY

Tons of rumours on Luongo, mostly are to go to Tampa or Florida, Toronto, or even Chicago. Chicago is Van's biggest rivalvry, I just don't see it happening.

those flyers goals were crazy. they were so dominant on the offensive end that it resulted in way too many breakaways for the devils.

He was in classes there until 2 weeks ago. Really amazing considering he already has 2 gamewinners.

So the NHL draft is not like the NF; draft I take it? Are players drafted out of HS then can go play college hockey to progress? Kind of like a farm system?

They're looking like a Stanley Cup winning team. That said, Phoenix has also been strong, so it's still up in the air who will win the Western final.

Fun until the last 2 minutes when they usually give up a goal to tie the game Maybe they can pull a Cardinals and make it to the SCF (hope I didn't just jinx them).

I loved listening Jeremy Roenick talk about that Nashville player who tossed the puck right out in front of the net.

I gotta admit, I'm not without some nerves with the way the Blues have played. Truth is, we all know you gotta win four and there's no discounting anyone at this stage.

Hoping for the best out of the Blues come Thursday.

That's correct. Draft eligible at 18, most all players end up playing more junior + college hockey before making the jump to a team's formal minor league system.

TWO shots on goal in the 2nd period for Broad Street. I'd like to be a fly on the wall to see Pete rip them new ones.

Bullies up 1-0 headed into the 3rd.

Devils threw everything and the kitchen sink a Bryzgalov still couldn't get a goal. Shots on net in the second were 12 to 2. Good game so far

NINJA EDIT: Devils scored as I was typing this
