evan evan evan ... smh i have some euro smoked dummies if u wanna borrow them for h2o
i still dont see that and sideskirts being an excuse dammit lol
ur rockers are F*#$ing MINTTT!! there brand new dude
i think theres another reason why he cant take it and hes just keeping it from us
Im just trying to be realistic. And Bryan if it comes to be I can take the car, then I will be in touch about the dummies.
But. The fact of the matter is that I am leaving for h20 in 10 days. And paint hasn't even touched the car yet. Not only that, but the paint / clear needs a few days to cure to be strong. Then the car needs to be put back together, THEN the interior needs to be put back together.
A good deal of extra repairs needed to be taken care of that I was not aware of. Nothing major, but it all adds up. And the blocking / priming / blocking / priming process is tedious to make it perfect. Prep is what makes the car look good, so it's something I refuse to rush for a show.
All I can say is we will see.
Figured I would make it official, it won't be at h20 unfortunately. And it's pretty stupid that Show n Go was moved to yesterday instead of AFTER h20, because I would have at least been able to bring it there.
No worries. Progress is still going strong and coming out perfect.
Blocked again and removed moldings
Then, after cleaning up the old molding tape and another round of primer / blocking, some paper thin touch ups were made.
Body lines are PERFECT
In the meantime, I've picked up a set of wheels from mr. autothug. I started refinishing them and I think gunmetal will look fresh on my wagon.
fkn love that thing
hmmmmm sit inside with the wife on the first day of her period or block sand this guy's car again at no extra charge????
I think I'll get tuned up on some herb and play some steve miller...... and I already finished blocking the roof at 400.
Had a great time at H20 as expected, even though my GTI wasn't there, was great all the same. Ran in to some good people and some I have been waiting to talk to / meet up with for a while.
Stopped and talked to Larry and scooped a rear strut bar. We shall see if it makes it to the car, I like how they look, but I'm not sold on touching the rear towers..
Spent most of the weekend cruising around with some buddies and their .:R's. My Passat did it's job. Solid ride, just had a little coilpack problem on the bridge, but it's nothing a little JB couldn't fix.
GTI progress is still underway!
Since that strut brace really isn't functional anyway what i would do is not even bother bolting it into the strut towers. Go get some felt put it on the inside of those mounting points, and just expand it till it sits tight between the towers and holds itself in place. since it would be purely for looks that'll solve your problem of not wanting to mess with the towers, and also if you want more space itll be easily removable.
There not perfect no but slightly better. I think if you look on euro enginuitys page they showed a video of crashing the van Wetzel into a curb it eventually broke but not as quickly as otheres
Sent with my thumbs
Loving the project man keep up the good work.
