Finally pulled the trigger on a new snail from Turbonetics. Nothing too entirely special, but it is NEW and not some ebay paperweight.

    T04B
    Super H compressor wheel (20288T),
    Standard bearing,
    Water cooled (3/8 NPT),
    F1 62 turbine wheel (21483),
4 bolt on center turbine housing with a .68 a/r (mine originally was .63, however that is no longer an option I gather from the options shown online).

There goes the fun budget for a while. Stay tuned.

    Happy 4th of July everybody.

Spent a good part of the day trying to wrap up some loose ends.

Installed hood release latch, started to wet sand and polish the bumpers and roof, installed the dash shell and steering column clamshell, as well as putting on the final coat of Leatherique dye on the front seats and door panels. Leather needs to be conditioned and buffed, but overall I'm pleased with the results. Cleaned up the old carpeted floor mats...need some attention still.

Photos below show progress. My collection of hardware is getting smaller, don't let the mess fool you. Also, just a heads up...Detailers Domain Uber yellow pads come apart at 6000+ rpm on a Porter Cable 7424.

Had to order some replacement studs and copper nuts from ATP for mounting the turbo to the manifold. I forgot that the nuts are a one time use deal and DO NOT come off the stud. I have tried to use the 10mm x 1.5 pitch OEM copper exhaust nuts, but they are flanged and are otherwise too big to get on with a wrench.

Also called up Emich VW again for a couple odd parts...there is a bushing and spring on the bottom of the steering column before it attaches to the U-joint and goes through the firewall. I was wondering why my steering column was a bit wobbely...decided to look up a parts diagram and found I was missing a few things

Otherwise...oil and coolant fittings are attached to the center section and everything is roughly indexed/rotated to the correct position. Glad Turbonetics ships their turbos with new gaskets. It's all the $10-20 crap that adds up.

    Time for an adult beverage.

yeah I know...dash still needs work.

I wasn't a huge fan of orange either, but it has grown on me. That and every time I see this car, in a REALLY distant sort of way it reminds me of mine

Turbo installed. Car runs again. Heat cycled it to try and burn off the oil inside the exhaust and all over the turbo from assembly. Need to replace one of the coolant lines to turbo, it has a small pinhole leak at the barb fitting to the turbo that I didn't notice before and has now gotten worse after working it off the old and onto the new turbo.

Need to re-calibrate my Innovate wideband so the guage reads correctly.

Friday is going to be a short day at work and I will be home early to put in some serious wrench time. Dubs Alng The Rockies is a month away...would be a good unveiling.

Real quick video of the car running this afternoon. Again, sorry for the mediocre cell phone video quality...the sound in particular is really poor. Got the new lower steering column bearing and spring installed; no more play in the column now. One of these days I will end up powdercoating the compressor housing to match the rest of the charge plumbing.

Disregard the idle drop at the end...I didn't take my foot off the throttle completely.

New coolant hose installed from the head to the turbo...driven around the block a couple times under some boost. So far so good. Interior work is next.

bigger turbo? sure, I'm gladly accepting $1000 donations for Turbo Pumpkin version 2.0. Only 15 more donations to go and I'll build a Supra eater.

Huge thanks to Dan for dropping by yesterday with his polisher. Got the roof polished out pretty good after wetsanding it a few weeks ago. My Porter Cable random orbital just wasn't cutting it (pardon the detailing pun ).

Door panels got pulled and I'm pretty sure we identified the drivers window switch as being bad. Rear drivers regulator is shot. Front passenger regulator is good. Drivers front and passenger rear are still inop/unknown at this time.

Gauges were permanently installed. I took a complete HVAC control assembly and modified it to hold the gauges while still being securely mounted in the dash with the factory hardware. I am a little disappointed the A/F gauge LED isn't the same color as the boost and oil pressure. I think a call to Innovate is in order.

All in all, not a bad day of work. Got some things accomplished; not as much as I was hoping for but then this is a hobby not a job so I get to call it quits whenever I feel like it.

Maybe. The last one I did and gave up on wouldn't dry without fisheyes in the paint even after rigorous prep work with acetone and sandpaper.

Had less than an hour to work on it today. Threw in 5 gallons of fresh gas and a bottle of octane booster. Ran it again now that the battery is fully charged. Raised the idle from 500 to about 900 rpm. Seems that the cooling system is bled now.

I have a little side work tomorrow afternoon after working all day from 7-3:30 but should be able to pick up some window switches from a friend if all goes well.

Still need to wire up the brakelight switch, and see about getting as much of the cluster functioning as possible. It will be interesting with the SDS standalone.

    Fun times ahead

Got the front passenger window operational. Regulator is crunchy. New one ordered. Switch is good.

Rear drivers window repaired, new regulator was installed a few months ago. Door hinge slide that goes into the door was installed upside down and was hitting the window on it's way down causing it to stop. Got that fixed. The switch is bad. New one ordered.

Drivers front regulator makes a click noise with the switch, but no movement. New switch and regulator ordered.

Passenger rear window goes up and down a couple inches and then stops. new regulator and switch ordered.

SO...$260 in parts from AutohausAZ later and all the regulators and switches (except center dash switch) will be new.

Did another 3M clay bar and Menzerna SF 4000 polish pass over the whole car to get it closer to ready for Dubs Along the Rockies in a couple weeks. Engine bay wiped down a bit to get rid of some dust.

Rear seats were re-dyed with their first coat of Leatherique this afternoon too.

Still to do: insure, register, emission test, and dye the headliner. Pending the regulators, the rest of the interior can get put back together; seatbelts bolted down, wiring tucked up under dash, etc.

Should be a great addition to one of the main sponsors' booth

I need a few parts. Does anybody have a good condition unbroken tilt clamshell with screw posts intact?

I also need to go to a couple junkyards to maybe find the correct brake light switch (harness connector doesn't fit into the brake light switch) and also find a good third brake light, mine has a couple bulbs burnt out and a few sockets unsoldered.
