Thread: 2001 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg Edition 1.8 turbo

I have a 2001 VW Jetta Wolfsburg Edition, 1.8 turbo. Periodically the check engine light comes on. Sometimes it goes off for weeks. I had it checked on the computer and it said bank 1 running too lean. The engine idles fine, acceleartes smoothly and has good gas economy. Other than the check engine light it runs perfect, the car has 115,000 miles on it, it is a 5 speed standard shift.

It could be as simple as a dodgy spark plug or coil pack that needs to be replaced.

I'd start with a spark plug.
